    Hi All:

I've been a Tacoma owner for years!! My last four vehicles have been Tacomas. I don't recall the year of my first one (likely around 2005). But in 2011 I bought a 2008 Tacoma (A/C) Off-Road, then in 2017 I bought a 2016 Tacoma (D/C)Off-Road, and NOW next month I will be the owner of a brand new Tacoma (D/C) Sport!

All of my Tacomas have been manual transmission. That is my non-negotiable.

I wrecked my 2016 Tacoma (still sad about that because it was the first vehicle I TRULY and GENUINELY loved) in early December, and when it was deemed totaled two weeks later, I started down the used car rabbit hole.

Eventually I discovered that the value of 2020-2021 Tacomas exceeded the value of new ones! But it still took me some time to find a new one with M/T. In fact, I was very close to purchasing a 2020 with all the bells and whistles for $45K through Carvana. HOWEVER, the delivery was going to delayed a week, so I started to search again for 2022's.

I could not believe my luck when two Tacos (almost the exact same type) became available! One was Barcelona Red 4X4 OR with $2250 in packages/accessories for MSRP $39,290 (no haggle because the Toyota dealer uses SmartPath). The other was Barcelona Red 4X4 Sport with $2245 in packages/accessories for MSRP $39,260, but being sold for $41,536 because it was through a traditional dealer.

I wanted the Sport because I have not had that trim before but I was not about to pay $2,100 more for a Sport. I was able to leverage the price of the former, and ultimately got the traditional dealer to sell the Sport to me for $39,760!

This is my first NEW Taco and I am already looking to mod it up! Black Exhaust Tip, Black Emblem Overlay, Black Tailgate Insert, and I just purchased 17-inch TRD Black Alloy Wheels (4Runner)! I really am aiming for a dual color look with the black add-ons playing off the red exterior.

I also bought a 2008 a/c offroad in 2011... and it still haunts my driveway with its presence.

Hahaha! I liked it but also hated it! I DESPISED the color, but this was all before you could really shop online before purchasing.

It's coming around! The one thing though that I just can't bring myself to upgrade is the LED Headlights. I can't get over how much it would cost post-production vs getting it pre-installed as an accessory. I'm trying to see if my dealer can get the factory to add it. I mean it's not even built yet. SMH.

Welcome! I’m on my first Tacoma (5th truck) and love it. You did a good job negotiating a reasonable price on yours.

I might have to MOD up. But parts of me won't. Like I can't imagine forking over $3K for someone to install OEM LED Headlights and Fog Lights knowing damn well it was only $485 to be factory-installed. But in other ways, I will MOD up. But just simple stuff. Blacking out the exterior chrome and buying the TRD black alloy wheels will give my new Tacoma a nice dual tone look, black and red.

Thanks David! I almost didn't shop at the local dealer because I knew I'd have to deal with a "numbers guy." Such crap.

But I went prepared. Leveraging the car up North in Phoenix helped tremendously!

I essentially paid the $500 markup to get tinted windows and door edge guards, as well as two other unnecessary things. Considering they were going to charge me a $2100 markup, I definitely got the better deal. The tinted windows alone are going to add to the dual tone (black and red) look I'm going for with it!

Hi Comatose. I had to Google the color. I'm not a blue fan but I will admit that is one of the better blues on a Tacoma. That Electric Storm Blue on my friend's 2017 Rav4 is yuck! :)

Well Red is a very popular color around here. I hear that people even paint their grilles red. @Justanotherhemi

    Gotta see pics of that!

I hope the red will grow on me (I think it will). I also think I'm going to get some accent rings for the interior. I've not bought a new car in over 15 years! This is gonna be fun!
