I love how you just wished him the best after this reply of his to you

    "dirtlifestylenate
@w.a.r._fab boxing in the frame will crack the frame unless you box the entire thing. I kept my impact on this frame to a minimum because I don't want to deal with all that work..."

Again, I've never heard of anyone cracking the frame with boxing in the whole thing. I think he's stuck in Jeep world with a lot of his thinking on things. I mean I could be wrong but I've just not seen any of these issues he talks about.

I have some small cracks developing around my shock towers but it isn't because I boxed the frame in on one side. These frames are super thin and I should of plated where the mount is fist before putting it on. That'll happen with plating it or not.

Because the panhard bar is already controling the axle's side-to-side motion, having an upper link attempting to do the same can over-constrain the axle.

i know what he said, and get that. just doesnt seem an issue with just about everyone triangulating the shit out of their rear 3-link.

I don't know if they just look like it on the surface but this looks like the second fucked up 3link I've seen on social media this week.
I know he got all that shit for free but that's still a lot of work just to end up with compromises on top of compromises.
Unless that panhard frame mount has extra ribbing or gusseting that shit won't last
And I don't know if I'd trust the stock leaf hangers for a link mount without adding some gusseting or material around them
If someone doesn't even bother to make sure the tire articulates cleanly what else is fucked up on their suspension?

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I'm sorry but his comment makes absolutely no sense.

"All that work"? He's already done all "the work" of removing the bed, and all that's involved, and he also cleared a lot of the obsticals out of the way by removing the spring/shackle hangers, etc. Box the dang frame (the way it should be) do it once, and be done with it.

"Kept the impact to the frame to a minimum"? Huh? Dude, you're completely rearranging the way the suspension connects to the frame, my guy... the "Kept the impact to the frame" ship sailed out of port before you started this project.

Definate short cuts being taken. You'd think he would realize that a lot of Toyota guys know Toyotas better than he "knows" Jeeps and maybe listen.

I mean he keeps on with this I wasn't jumping in line with MC and obviously was oblivious that the 3.5 kit wasn't available yet to the public. His research skills on this build have been severely lacking. It seems like he's been rushing a lot of projects lately. When pressed about certain things he's projecting and redirecting instead of owning it.

Well, if his first stop after this build is Johnson Valley... He's going to learn some things one way or another. :notsure:

I might be looking at this wrong...

    Screenshot_20220116-171623_Instagram.jpg

But he appears to have it mocked up to ride height here... if so, he's got no up travel left in those coilovers. And the lower coilover mounts look goofy to me, with those big assed misalignment spacers. Why wouldn't you put the tabs closer together, make the misalignment spacers smaller... and move it way from the backing shield on the brake. Also, does he even have enough room once the coils are on the shocks? And he's gunna be pissed if he leaves the lower bolts in that dircetion and mounts his brakes... cause he wont be able to get the shock bolt out without pulling his axle.

Speaking of pulling his axle... the outer/lower coilover mount/tab is in the way for the rear upper bolt to mount his axle. Maybe it's drilled for the stud, but the stud wont be long enough to go all the way through the mounting flange and the coilover tab... for a guy who doesn't want to do "all that work" he sure seems to be getting ready to do a lot of extra work.

It’s scary the number of people that are going to see that crap and regurgitate it over and over on forums/FB as gospel now.

That panhard mount is not good…there’s a ton of load going through there to control lateral movement and it’s not going to hold up long term

The panhard is also really really low and no triangulation on the lower links, I’d bet that it has a really positive roll axis and is going to be a nightmare to drive on the street. 3-link calculators exist for a reason.

Lots of cool ideas these days and very poor execution. It's sad really.

He's going to have to extend his bump stops 6" so he doesn't break those free shocks. But I guess if you aren't paying for parts you don't have to care how long they last. :bananadead:

Yeah, lots of head shaking. Especially with him acting like a teacher of something he clearly doesn’t understand.

More power to him to get paid to do it but I really hate the influencer age for reasons like this.

This is My favorite thing about the internet. People on the internet casting shade because they don’t like the way someone else on the internet is doing something

There's a difference in casting shade and calling something out that will or could lead to really bad situations. Then that person not listening to those that say something because their pride is hurt or they think they know better is when things start getting nuts. It's also the way someone says something to that person.

Its not that I don’t like it, it’s that I’m calling a spade a spade and calling out bad/questionable work that the person building is oblivious to.

Come on now guys, let's just sit back and watch the show unfold. I'm looking forward to seeing the new clickbait video title from Nate "FRAME RIPPED IN HALF" in a few weeks. Let's just enjoy the ride, especially when it's not costing you a dime.

I’ve given up on trying to help correct people on the inter webs. In person I’ll chat with you all day. You know this as we have talked in person. Most people cannot let their pride be put aside enough to listen to other people via the internet
