hey all was researching a little on water weight.
now i drink about 2 gallons of water a day, i know the water itself doesnt add weight but since i take it a good bit of water would i be retaining a good bit of the water? just wondering because since i've been drinking so much it seems my sides and lower ab's have puffed out a little. and my diet and workouts are good.

i work out everyday which includes running atleast a mile then lifting for about half an hour after.

It sounds like to me you are drinking somewhere between 2 and 4 times the recommended amount of water. Do you have a reason for taking that much water in during a day??
Cause if you don't- You could try cutting back a bit and seeing what happens??

not really a reason, i like the taste of it and i got used to drinking about a gallon.
so whenever i got bored or something i would just drink water.
now i crave it all the time. and yeah i think i will cut back to prob a gallon

Yeah...That's the hard part about stuff like this. The drink eight 8oz glasses a day is about 1/2 a gallon. 3 liters is a little less than a gallon. So give that a try. It's hard for me to tell you that's what it is...but it could be and trying something different is the only way to find out.
    Good luck!!

not that I am concerned with retaining water, but I also drink about 6 liters a day, just something I got into with sports and yard work in the summer. I don't travel without my nalgene, even a quick trip to the store. There is a thing as drinking TOO much water but that also comes with not eating and totally messing up your electrolyte balance.

Are you drinking bottled or Tap water?
Brunes is right my doc told me to
not drink so much water because at a
point, you start to flush out all your salts,, electrolytes and other
things.. but being hydrated is extremely important!

Tap was all I used to drink, and I was always thirsty,
Someone recommended me to try bottled water, because of all the bleach
and chlorine and other minerals in the water.
So I bought A couple gallons of grocery store filtered water,
its cheap like .70$ for a gallon, drank it for a week,
made a huge difference! may not be for everbody
but you should at least give it a try, I wasn't thirsty all the time and stopped drinking too much water, now I drink enough to stay very well
hydrated, but not over do it. :D

Your body will try to maintain homoeostasis thus keep electrolytes and perform functions to try to adapt to the increased volume of water you drink. Regardless you can induce hypo______ (fill in the blank) Basically you have the potential to dilute your lytes to cause noticeable symptoms.

Everything in moderation. More you drink the more you pee.

Also take into account that a lot of the water you need comes from food during the day too...
