Stop and go traffic, short trips in cold weather is severe traffic.
I had my Gen 3 for only 3 weeks, but I remember yellow oil/water milkshake in the filler tube in my Gen2 after short cold trips. Oil was loaded with water. Water will use up additaves in the oil faster, if oil is not brought up to temp and dried up regularly.

Again, its not. 99% of people drive in traffic. If that was the qualification for a 5k mile oil change, Toyota would recommend everyone do 5k, with a caveat of "If you manage to drive 10k miles without hitting traffic once, go ahead and go 10k"

You are willfully bending against common sense, even in the face of thousands and thousands of oil analysis reports.

Yes, I would say if the majority of your driving is short trips in cold temps, where your oil rarely gets brought up to temp, you should be on a severe use schedule. That's pretty far from "driving in town" which is where the original goal posts for your argument were.

How many people do you know had major issues with there vehicles because of oil change intervals? I knew of one and it was due to never changing his oil...

They just rotate your tires at the 5k, they dont change your oil at the 5k unless you request to use one of your 2 freebies on it

Let’s keep this going. I’ll average out the suggested milage for oil changes and we can establish a TW standard lol. Currently we’re at 6,400 miles avg. Go over that and you’re f#%ked.

Guys, my driveway has about a 5 degree incline, do you think that rates the severe service interval? I feel like it needs that interval, please validate me.

My truck has had 5k mile full synthetic changes for 274k miles and it’s currently a complete piece of shit with the head off.

So, I recommend going shorter than 5k intervals. Or maybe longer

I didn’t read all the comments, but the 1 million mile tundra, and now 600k mile tundra the guy is driving now gets 10,000 mile oil changes. I’ll go with that.

the guy beating his 2022 tundra on YouTube (don’t know his channel) met him at a Toyota dealer for an oil change in his 2022 and briefly talked to guy with the old tundra.

I haven't had the opportunity to do an oil change on a 3rd Gen yet. I've done the wife's 4 Runner with the cartridge, so I know the aggravation to expect. The filter on that one sits horizontal so you can't fill the housing. I've always tried to fill the new filter as much as possible to reduce no pressure run time. It look like this one is sitting vertical, which means I should be able to fill it up before installing.

Have any of you guys done this? Is it possible?

His miles are all highway. 10k doesn’t apply in all cases.

Because I drive about 5k miles per YEAR and the mfr. recommends 7.5k to 10k or one year, whichever comes first.
