That’s the one thing I some what agree with I guess. I wish the off-road seats where black and not two tone. I think my 2019 off-road seats were better. Although I do believe the black headliner on the off-road is much better. Headliners aren’t very easy to clean and black hides dirt and stains much better than light grey.

Good point. I didn’t realize pre-2020 were solid gray. Not sure which OR interior I like better. In any case, nothing is better, all just different. I think that pattern stands out less when it’s all gray.

Possibly a dumb question: is there any reason a roadmaster active suspension wouldn't work on the trail edition?

Seeing the picture of the green one has me rethinking buying a simple sr5!

    Update:

Salesperson just told me they expect to receive it 1-25!

So if that holds true, then from build to delivery would be exactly 2 weeks. I think it may go an extra day over that do some dealer stuff they need to do. Keep in mind I also have only 1 port installed accessory: bed lights. So that may cut down the time at port.

I just heard again from my salesman. They’ve bumped estimated delivery of my black trail edition to Feb. 6 - 11. I did not request any changes. Since it was built on Dec 18-20, that’s getting close to 2 months on just delivery. Oh well, I guess I’ll just bide the time by just buying more accessories…

what in the world…how is that even possible? Like can they tell you if it’s stuck at port? Where is it right now?

Also what have you bought so far?

I have a personal connection with my salesman so I haven’t gone anywhere else.. last week I was offered a trail in army green and turned it down. Luckily yesterday he confirmed my lunar rock and it is to be built the second week of February!

Huntersville NC charging $6,000 over msrp.. offered cash deal too. Joke for SR5 with a locker and gold wheels.

You’re right, pricing that is 6000 over what the manufacturer suggests for a package is a joke. Just like 6000 over for a Pro is a joke.

For the sake of information integrity, it also comes with a 1.1/.5 factory lift, unique interior, PRO grille, unique colors, A/T tires, and bed boxes. And the wheels are bronze ;). But I wouldn’t pay what sounds like nearly 50k for it agreed.

Update…I found out today that the 25th is the expected arrival at port. That wasn’t communicated to me before. I think the delays come down to waiting for more trucks to be available for economies of scale on shipping. They don’t transport them by rail or truck one by one…so even though mine has only 1 port option, my guy is saying it may just sit there ready to go until they have enough for the truck to merit making a transport run. So he says early Feb but I’m hopeful for this month…

I’m not done digging on finding one and seeing what dealer will work with me. In regards to the integrity of info of this special sr5…the lift isn’t special, still will ride stiffer than the tacoma Off Road Bilstein Shocks and the front grill can be purchased cheaper after market. Just having the awesome front grill, locker and special wheels is worth it at MSRP LOL. Even that full single color black cloth is WAY cooler than the multi color cloth the Off Road is offered in.. I’ll take that extra 6 grand in my bank account and get a suspension worthy to make this trail edition something special..

    can’t wait to see yours!

ha ha unfortunately on this thread we either get haters or lovers of the trail, it seems to be polarizing for people. So I was just pointing out exactly what it comes with for the price, there’s a lot of misinformation out there.

so it sounds like you like the trail edition for MSRP, and you’re trying to find one actively? We can all try and keep an eye on one with our local dealer. What region are you in?

Yeah, I think the common sentiment among those of us who are buying one is that while of course the truck could be better if we modified it, most of us are the type of people who want a stock truck with a factory warranty on things like a lift, who don’t want to do extensive modifications, or you just like the look of it or the rarity factor. Thanks, I can’t wait either!

I’m getting ready to sell my 2020 TRD PRO, Army Green.. I definitely want the trail edition in Lunar.. I’d keep it exactly what Toyota offered, but I would most likely take out the ice box in the back. To give me some of that bed space back lol. But I love everything this sr5 offers. I wouldn’t change a thing. But like I said earlier, at $48,000 absolutely not. I had 16 Tacoma before the tundra and I miss it.

I’m getting ready to move to Oak Ridge Tennessee, currently living in Huntersville NC… I know there are three dealerships in the Knoxville area.

Finally Toyota put in everything I’ve wanted them to for the sr5.. A locker without the bilstein or fox shock upgrade packages you’re forced to buy if you want that.. IMO humble opinion I believe Toyota nailed it finally

You mind expanding further on why you gravitate to the Trail? Very interesting perspective, especially coming from a Pro Tundra.

You’re wanting to put your own suspension on? Essentially also don’t care about the other convenience features of the OR I assume?

The new trail comes with everything you need to go off roading, without the creature comforts of the OR or Pro Tacomas.. that stuff is great but does come with a price.. Toyota made this new truck to come with the off roading essentials plus a little esthetic flair, and supposedly at a cheaper price point..

Myself personally, I like the option in the future of installing a custom higher end suspension if I chose to, knowing that Toyota didn’t place higher end components at my expense. They placed in this new TE exactly what matters in off roading, if you chose not to do anything else moving forward.

and yes I’ve had a few tacos and then wanted to experience the higher end pro. At the end of the day I’d like to have both but that’s not realistic for myself. My pro has been great and very comfortable. But what I enjoy doing and that I miss is to get to areas with my Tacoma that my tundra simply can’t drive to. It’s too big and wide. Awesome truck though.

I pulled my deposit on the trail once the Canadian pricing came out. Just couldn’t do it, got my Sport Premium for $500 more. That being said there’s gonna be a heck of a lot less haters when these things start rolling in and people see how good they look straight from the factory in person and in photos. All technical things aside, in my opinion the Trail is the best looking package stock, and that includes the pro.
