Has anyone had an issue with not getting any OBD data via the supplied OBD connection ? Find a solution ? I've tried to contact their tech support a few times and even via whatsapp I've only received one reply that dodged my question... I know my OBD port works because I can plug my Scangauge back in in and it fires right up.

I’m Pretty sure their obd2 cable is only capable of speed and rpm to the page that pops up on the half screens. It does not seem capable to output to any other apps. It is the reason I bought the Wi-Fi obd2 for the torque app.

In order to get any other data you need an OBDII splitter and a wifi reader with the torque app or obd fusion or such.

Ive used 2 different splitters and having my wifi dongle and the headunit obd2 cable attached at the same time causes my trans temp gauge needles to freak out. but if I take out the splitter they work fine. So there is that...at least on my headunit

More than similar it seems. And cheaper? I think the silver would look a lot better in my 2006 than the black.

Catching up on this thread here. Here's my update after having the unit for some time now. Remember I have a 2005 TRD Double Cab w/JBL

    1. If you're looking for an updated HU that brings your truck into the 21st century this is your guy
    2. If you are not nor do you know anyone who can help from a tech side of things this unit is most likely not for you
    3. The gloss black is not as bad as you think. The pic of silver one looks awful IMO
    4. ZLink is trash....so if you're looking for a true Apple Car Play experience this is not for you (maybe add the Carlink device 3.0 or whatever it's called)
    5. Sergey's software and he himself seem quiet helpful and really open the unit up giving it that 21'st century "modern" feel
    6. If you are a cheap "you know what" this unit is not for you
    7. I strongly recommend using iOS automation or android's task app to kick up your hotspot so the unit connects automatically, connect the unit to your cell phone via bluetooth for voice and hotspot for the apps. This turns the HU into a true tablet and you can download almost any app you desire and use as designed.
    8. If you don't have patience in working on such thing this unit is not for you. Call crutchfield and get a plug and play unit.
    9. Install Power Amp equalizer to help control music sound.
    10. ODB gives me MPH and Tach with no problem....can't speak to anything else
    11. Pandora does not seem to stream well with the unit. Sound fluctuates/attenuates up and down between songs. Not sure if this is the unit but I suspect it's a pandora thing
    12. Spotify however does seem to work well.
    13. Premium scripts from both allow you to listen to "off line" music without the data connection so if you are using either I suggest the paid versions. Again see #6
    14. Apple music seems to do ok but I don't use it much.
    15. Sergey's help is not a toll free 24/7 call away. It is a delayed convo being we are on opposite sides of the world. He is responsive and helpful if you send him the cash!! LOL See #8
    16. If you are on the fence for whatever reason stay on the fence or call Crutchfield See #8 After 38 pages of this thread and you don't understand this unit will take some time and fine tuning to accommodate your exact needs then you need to move on to another product.
    17. Am I still working through some things??.....you betcha.....luckily Sergey is helping and I honestly think I will get it how I want for the most part.
    18. So far I like the unit.....do I love it no, is it the best thing since sliced bread no, does it make my 2005 look and feel of a 2021 Hellzzz Yea!
    19. AuCar could most definitely have a better customer service experience there's no doubt about that. Buying Sergey's firmware kinda gives you a pretty good level of customer service.
    20. I can't speak to the competitors like Joying....but this is my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth.

I'm sure I left out some things.....Like I said I'm about 80% where I want to be with the unit now.....time should be able to get me as close to as possible.....and nothing in life is 100%.

Pretty much nailed it. Can’t think of anything to add here. Except that Pandora streams fine from my phone to the headunit. No issues here. Thxs!

yea from phone to HU via bluetooth is probably fine.....I'm referring to loading Pandora app to the unit itself and playing music from the app via hotspot to phone doesn't seem to work very well for me.

if you are not tech savvy do not get one unless you have a local car audio shop willing to do the install and updates for you and help you deal with issues on an ongoing basis
#4 Couldn't agree more, I was so accustomed to carplay that at first I was dead set on making it work well but it's pointless. Even if you get the app functionality you want the audio quality and hands free calling being total and complete shit just kills it. Adding all of your apps that you want to the HU and only using your phone via BT for calling is the way to go IMO.

#7 Tell me more about this task app thing ! I am currently looking into a Verizon HUM+ to permanently install in the truck. The HU takes 10-15 minutes to find my iphone hotspot for some reason, I asked Sergey about it and he basically said that iphones and Android devices just don't play well in the same sandbox and there is no cure HOWEVER I did figure out that every time I get in my truck if I go into my iphone settings and toggle my hotspot off and back on again the HU finds it immediately...just a stupid PIA

#9 With Sergey's advice I downloaded PowerAmp player to use as my default music player but I don't like the EQ at all, I think the EQ in the settings menu is much better, it has time alignment correction ( which is the single most important audio feature IMO ) and a 16 band EQ vs. 10 band & fine tunable bass enhancement sound much better than the power amp EQ. The bass adjustment on the power amp eq sounds really muddy imo

I've run Tasker on my Android phones for about the past 10-12 years... maybe longer. It's not the simplest thing to program, but it's very powerful and reliable.

    Any consensus on this?

How does Android Auto work? I was told it does wireless Android Auto. Is the company still working out a bunch of kinks?

I seem to be having problems with my unit’s passenger airbag indicator not working (neither on or off lights activate) and triggering a DTC B1660. Anyone have this problem? I figure my unit is defective.

If anyone wants to give zlink a second chance I just updated mine to 4.0.18. The installation was easy and it reconnected fine after the update. I have now done this on both my test unit and the one I use in my truck and both are working good. I have no long-term review yet so if yours is working great you might want to wait a while. If not you can give this a shot.

    Instructions;
    1. uninstall zlink
    2. Go to user settings and save and reboot.
    3. Install APK from the flash drive.
    4. Go to user settings and save and reboot.
    5. Reset using the reset button on the front panel. The test unit did not need to do this but the one in my truck needed a hard reset to reconnect Bluetooth.

I also found out you do not need to use Apple Maps. In the photos I am using Google maps, this might not be new but I learned this today.

I was just checking my zlink and its already updated. Not sure if that came with the update from Aucar or Sergey or maybe at some point when connected to my hotspot or home wifi.
