    Looks over everything?
If you’re even thinking about getting dedicated winters, just get them.
While you may not look as ‘aggressive’, your driving/confidence will greatly improve and you’ll be able to disable traction/stability on those service roads and still feel confident in the conditions while the ATs will get overwhelmed quick.
I run K02s for three seasons and Grabber Arctic LTs for winters. No comparison. Dedicated winters always.

I got a smoking deal on a set of limited rims to match my existing ones. Thought was, put winter tires and TPMS sensors on one set, and swap out as the seasons changed. I then came to the realization that storing the extra set is "smacks of effort". I already have an older muscle car...I don't need something else to trip over in my garage. I sold extra set of rims and tires for what I paid for...bought falken wild peak and drive on them year round.

I run a set of four dedicated wither tires and a set of Toyo Open Country ATIII for summer. Both sets work seamlessly with the TPMS since once set has the OEM sensors and the other are using Autel clone sensors with the OEM sensor ID numbers loaded on to them.

I definitely agree with the winter tire is better mindset. But I also don't really have much room to store another pair.

The Duratracs surprised me. Lots of siping. Deep voids. Similarities to winter tires.

I’m in Philly but I run up to MA monthly if not more.

    265/70R17 AT3W for Spring-Fall
    265/70R16 Blizzak DM-V2 for Winter

I don’t like to compromise on tires in the winter.

My truck came with General grabbers AtX’s and today was the first real time I tested them in serious snow. I think they suck. Lost control twice last too on a little bit of black ice, where I know it wouldn’t of happened with a different set of tires.

I’ll be replacing those as soon as they are ran down a bit

Man this TacomaWorld forum is amazing! I appreciate all the responses. Again I am a noob and have much to learn about not only tires but a million other topics. Thank you all!

Based on the feedback I am re-evaluating to figure out what I really want. I think it comes down to 2 things.
    1. I want a tire I can trust in any winter condition
    2. I want a tire that still looks aggressive for other times of the year.

Based on that it is looking more like I am gonna end up running two sets… one for spring/summer then a second set specializing in off-road winter conditions starting in November.

Lucky for me I am currently TDY (military equivalent to a business trip) in Florida till the end of February.

Therefore I think I can get away with starting out with the “vanity” set aka the Generals. Because I love the White Lettering combined with the aggressive look. Then next fall see how they hold up in the woods and if need be pick up some winter specific tires.

Can i purchase a set of oem tpms and run them both when i switch out tires in the spring? or will the first set still be recognized by the vehicle when not on the vehicle?

Toyo open country at3 are perfect blend of 3 peak ratings, reasonable cost and long lasting. The only thing they don’t have is the ability to look like you can climb the side of the mall as you drive by but they’re decent looking. Also, I’m in northern vt, similar weather, I never run winters, waste of $for me

    Not without programming the ECU/PCM.

Get cloneable sensors, use your OEM sensor IDs to the new aftermarket sensors, Done.

Another upstate nyer who just bought a 22 sr5. I went and got a second set of rims when I only had 110 miles on it. After I run the tires down that came with them, I'm going to switch to winter and summer sets.
1st pic is what the truck came with, 2nd is the set I bought.

What is a good brand of Cloneable sensors and how do I find my sensor ID's?

I use Autel sensors. The autel tool will read your stock sensors and write that ID to the blanks.

If my winter wheels didn’t come with sensors, that’s the direction I’d go as well. I went without sensors for years on my old set and every time the light turned on 2/3 of the way to work I’d grumble.
