I am trying to lock the doors from the outside of the truck while it is running is there a setting to be able to do this? Or a sequence to accomplish this?

If your truck has push to start you toss the fob in the truck keep the physical key and lock the doors with the key.

if you attempt to lock the doors then get out they will auto unlock with the fob outside the vehicle to prevent the aspect of locking your keys in your car.
So you must lock it manually with the key.

Do it alot in winter. Use push to start (18 Sport ), exit vehicle with fob and use key to manually lock doors. Doors will not open with fob, have to use the key again to unlock after truck is warmed.

I used to do that with my previous truck on cold mornings before work. I had 2 sets of keys and would leave one in the ignition and lock it with the other. Then I bought a used 2019 Tacoma and immediately said “eff that jazz” and had remote start installed. Totally worth it.
