Looking at getting ST Maxx's or G003's. Will 255/80R17 fit on my 2020 TRD sport? Rubbing? Just until I put on my 2.5 inch lift. Someone must have done it. I've been searching. Help

    your truck will explode!!!!

or they may fit very well…..

yes, they fit, maybe slight rub, some ppl say they get rub, some don’t.

As long as you keep your stock wheels and dont add spacers you will be fine

Haha. Thanks. Keeping the stock wheels, spacers=problems and I never trusted them.

On the stock wheels, yes these should work, as bzzr2 mentioned, there is a slight chance of rubbing. We show the max tire height at 33.20" with a max width of 275 before rubbing should occur.

Yokohama shows the G003 at 33.3"'s so they might get close to rubbing or have a slight rub.

But with a 2.5" lift there shouldn't be too much rubbing. I would like to get new wheels, but it's just out of my budget at the moment. I'm still trying to figure out which offset works best. I will probably get black rhino armory wheels

First mod to my bone stock TRD sport when it comes in is a set of 32" skinnies on the 4runner TRD Pro bronze wheels. Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S in 255/75/17.

unless the wheels come with nearly identical backspacing/offset they will rub lifted or not. Once the tire is pushed out the problems begin

Great tires! My 255/85R16 are mounted on stock wheels & stock suspension and don't rub anywhere.
With my truck weight and 37psi, they reach 31.75" from the floor.

I have not seen a picture posted yet, I also looked at getting them before I ordered the Toyo AT3’s today. I know the 255/85/16 ran very narrow, I had them on a 16x8 wheel.

sounds about right, my falken 255's are right around 32 iirc under the truck.

i've had the st maxx in 285's and 315's (not on a tacoma) and they sure seemed to last long, both rigs were traded away before i even considered new tires! my incoming mojave obvoiusly needs tires, but i don't love the dimensions on them as a 1st choice, if they came out with the new sweet 35x11.5 i'd be all over these again! I tried to get a TRD Pro manual transmission but the numbers were not good.. Toyota felt that their 56k truck should cost $90/month than the 66k Jeep after trade in, bummer, but not gonna let them fully insert into my backside like that!

I'm scheduling a CMC for my truck. I have 255/80r17 ST Maxx tires with a 2in Dobinsons MRA lift (with Dobinsons UCAs) and there's a lot of rubbing when wheeling. Occasional rubbing on the street as well. I don't know what crack the dudes who say there's no rubbing on stock suspension with these tires are smoking. I've had rubbing before and after lift. No worries though, I expected it so it's not a big problem for me.

Are you on stock wheels? I put 255/85 16 on my TRD OR on the stock wheels and suspension, no rubbing no crack smoking.

Maybe that's the difference then :p
I have the TRD Pro wheels. Are you clearing cab mount at full stuff as well?

Yep, the Kenda RT’s are good but they pick up a ton of rocks. Good tire otherwise.

I'm sure they need the CMC and pinch weld flat?

Yeah, it’s similar to fitting 285’s but way easier than fitting 315’s.
Off topic, I’m looking at 35x11.5R17 for my next tire just because there are a few more options in that size. 37x12.5R17 down the road when I’m ready to do it right. If you do the math, 35x10.5 is about the same ratio as 37x12.5 so I consider 37x12.5 skinnies as well.
