Looking to install my SC this weekend and I have a question related to the tune flash.

I'm currently running KDMax Pro, so to flash the Magnusson tune do I first need to revert to a stock tune for my ECU ID and then flash the Maggie tune?

Or do I go straight to the Maggie tune?

 

I was on OV tune 2.0 and went straight to Maggie tune.

 

Just make sure you have the software before you start the install.

 

Yep, already have VF Tuner on the laptop along with the tune file from Magnusson.

 

Finally all together. Very pleased with the results coming from kdmax tune. Awaiting boost/afr gauge setup to monitor everything.

 

Damn now i need to go wipe down my engine bay, yours is so clean!

Wait, are you using a NA tune on a FI vehicle? I’d be very very careful. I have never seen that turn out well.

 

I'll assume he meant he was KD tuned prior to install and is now on the Maggy tune

Hey buddy had to change my email but I’m still can’t find out what’s up with my 18 Tacoma supercharger getting codes 355,353,351 checked all ignition coil’s retuned acts like it only running on 3 cylinders

 

At this point, maybe take it to a dealer or the shop that did the install. It's odd that it's post install but the thing about those ignition coil codes is that they can be "primary or secondary circuit", meaning the coil or ecm side.

I suppose it could be worth checking spark plugs too. There's been reports over the years of trucks coming from factory with loose plugs, especially cylinder #5. May as well check the gapping too. Stock is 0.031. Magnuson doesn't require this be changed for their kit.

 

Is there any way to verify that an installer successfully tuned a truck? (Rather than standing over their shoulder and viewing the success messages on the installation computer.)

I imagine driving around with a stock tune would get expensive quickly.

 

If you use the software to attempt to read out the tune file on a 3GT, it won't work if it's been tuned

 

I’ve had the retune done today with magnesum on the phone mirroring it and they say it not the tune but it still won’t get gas past 1500 rpm’s and sputtering I’m going crazy wondering it will start idle but put in gear no go could timing be off

 

Could be any number of things but I would start by ruling out any and all possibilities related to the codes you've got

 

Sorry but posting here isn't going to help diagnose of fix your issue. Find a dealer or reputable shop that is willing to diagnose the issue. Magnuson's tune will not cause misfires or faults on it's own. Did this happen immediately after the install?
