What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Curious if anyone has found a better way to secure our blinker lights. Doesn’t seem like a very secure design.

These ones. The ones in the bumper

 

Oh... ya, I pitched those in the garbage a long time ago, along with the side marker corners lol.

They are, in fact, a crap design. All the more reason I was happy to get rid of the original bumper.

 

I’m like you. I have retrofits with switchback halos for blinkers. It’s just easier especially with an aftermarket bumper

 

I added those bulbs to the blinkers in the corner housing.

 

Ya I’m thinking about going by Ace hardware and fashioning my own design. Stay tuned lol

 

I got my head back from the machine shop with all valve shins set. Took the cams out to get to the head bolt holes, and then flipped the head over and dropped 6 valve shims onto the floor

 

Man doing this sound damping stuff is tedious. Haha I’m ready to be done. Really wondering if I should pull the headliner and do it right.


And did take y’all advice, ordered some MLV that should be here Thursday.

 

I did my entire cab all at once to include the doors and the roof. It was definitely an experience…

 

doing the roof will see more improvement then the floor. But PITA for sure. at least your headliner is remove able.

 

I figured it would. Damnit lol I should just do it then

After getting my truck back from Line-x decided to finally install my tire rack and jack

 

Try a plate bumper?

 

Did that walk-in frame mod.

 

Did yours splay out when you removed the crossmember? Mine did and was fun to get back together.

 

It stayed about the same, was pretty easy to hit outta the frame and they're at the same level still

 

Okay so decided to just knock out the roof. Wasn’t that bad, beside the fact that dynamat doesn’t stick when it’s cold out(had to run the heater in the truck for 20 mins or so) and I sheared the head off an a pillar bolt(drilled out pretty easy). Most of the glue and junk cleaned off pretty fast with a putty knife. Didn’t get a pic of it cleaned.

 

Replaced my rusty ass bumper.
