Okay man how did you get the 31 into the Passanger side ? How much did you have to move (AC lines Rtn lines Ect ?) I'm really interested in doing this I have a 31 I was gonna put into the Dvr side but if I can leave the 27 there and do a 31 Pass side I'm in.

 

Which Solar maintainer have you been using.
I’m using the truck a lot less these days and the battery is suffering.

 

I have a 30A charge controller now (for sale later). But i have a CTEK D250SE that ill be putting in. Its dual input solar/alternator.

 

Ok, I assume you’re aim is recovering power while out on adventures more than static in the driveway?

 

My aim was to use solar when parked, and alternator when driving, to keep things topped off

i haven't actually driven my truck in 2 weeks. Just took it out for about 30 min haha

 

A question for those of you with a house battery behind the rear seats of a double cab.

I’m planning on mounting a 100 amp hour lithium and a DC to DC charger behind the drivers side rear seat. I will be running 2 6 gauge wires to the DC-DC and 2 10 gauge to the bed. I haven’t removed the rear seats or back wall trim pieces so I’ve only seen pictures of that area. A quick glance under the truck did not reveal any drain plug knockouts at the back of the cab in that area.

Is there a factory opening back there that you are using for a wire pass through or are you drilling holes and adding watertight cable glands?

For a battery tie down strap, is there suitable braces to run the strap under or are you adding footman loops for the strap?

There is one existing grommet you can knock out and I just drilled another hole next to it for my other wire. Also, I used 4awg.

I know, right! Lol I painted the hole and used a water tight grommet

 

What are you using to pass thru the back, a link would be nice?

Blue Sea also makes pass throughs - they call them Cable Clams, and come in 3 sizes.

I use several of these on my truck, and have had great success with them. In other words, they don't leak. LOL

 

Anyone somehow mount a battery in the bedsides? I have a feeling like that would be possible, with some panels to protect it from road crap and whatnot.

I’ve put a 2 gallon tank in there. Supporting it is the issue. While resting one on the composite bed isn’t a problem hanging one from it might be. Using the frame to support it would be better.

 

EDIT I just reread this and this is in the bed, not in the bedside. Good luck.

I used the built in cross steps and the T bolt channel...but I had a cap on the bed. This was really sturdy. I build SFI race car chassis and I think this would pass. LOL

I’m on the hunt for another elusive part….

My house battery is a deep cycle battery. I’m using “mil spec” style terminals with cover.

The battery has the main post and the extra threaded posts like this



The terminal and covers look like this



The covers do not cover the threaded posts very well.

Has anyone found covers that’ll fit the “mil spec” terminals and also cover the threaded posts?

The closest thing I can come up with is these



Then keeping the other covers installed as well.

 

I don't know anything but I searched for "marine battery connectors" and saw that extra threaded bolt.
Might look there.

 

I've used these folks for years. Look around and you might find something.
