The options on this Trail edition bring up a point for me. The value proposition behind this specific model lessens when they are equipped with navigation and parking sonar. I personally don’t think that’s worth $1700 and then it really takes it too far into TRDOR territory. Assuming that many Will be equipped with lots of port options, I can see some of these Trail additions getting out of hand

Well now that’s the first one I’ve encountered being delivered, thanks for sharing. Wish it was someone on these threads lol.

The amount of misinformation in that thread is insane. I don’t have the energy to reply to all of them and set them straight.

Toyota really needs to catch their mistake of leaving the air dam on. It’s embarrassing, imagine leaving that on like an OR or a Bronco lol. You can’t brag approach angles improve due to deleting it and then leave the air dam on

Been seeing these coming in from Mexico lately maybe 1-2 on truck carriers along with all the other Tacoma’s.

Hello all..I'll be in a position to buy a Trail perhaps in June. I really want the lunar rock. Has anyone heard of some limits for the year (Trail or that color), or can I just put a deposit with specifications, and take one in June?

I would talk to dealers now and let them know your plans, i have been talking to my dealer since early October to get this allocation in early February.

I don't know about production numbers, but it seems that any options from the factory are "baked in" so to say on the allocation. Options after the fact though, port or dealer installed options, are fair game.

I could be wrong, about the options, its just what I've observed.

Well last year’s trail was limited to 7000 units I believe, and this is just a guess, but I’d assume this year’s is going to be more rare due to supply chain and it just feels like they made it more special.

Take with a grain of salt but I’ve seen some people say there’s a LR paint shortage right now.

I mean, there seems to be only 2 Trails coming to my region right now. They appear to be rare so if you see one I’d just take it. I would speak to multiple dealers now, get on reservation lists, and when it pops up, if you can, take it. Even for a high volume model it’s hard to find things right now. Most are waiting months for their trucks. No one is really buying when they need it. I needed something arguably 2 months ago and am just now about to get mine. You have the benefit of not waiting for the Trail to start being built - the first are being delivered right now.

Best of luck and I hope you’re able to get what you want, when you want it! But start early.

Placed my deposit in December and I'm 9nth on the list to receive an allocation for a SR5 Trail. Sure I could get it sooner, but this dealership offers it at MSRP with no dealer add-ons. I was told estimated 4ish months to receive an allocation/delivery in California.

That's not bad considering you're 9th...I hope they actually get that volume of trucks. Sounds like you're flexible on color too

I would think they are on target to sell another 250K Tacoma's this year, guessing there will be a good amount of TE's once they get going.

I hope so! Last year's TE was limited to 7000 units though...

Last year's TE was pretty much just those goofy bed boxes though. IMHO it looks like they put an effort into this year in hopes to sell a more significant number.

I was thinking the same thing. Like, based on the good reception of last year's which was just the bed boxes and an option of special color. Now they may make more. We will see...I still think this will end up being one of the more rare 3G variants, all said and done. I can't wait to see what they do next year, if they can make pricing less overlapping/confusing for people, this could be a great long term model.

Exactly, it was obviously well received without much effort so why not make it better and expand. 2021 was barely mentioned but for 2022 they were handing them out for tests on YouTube.

My dealer said that the wait time for the SR5 Trail and TRD OR is the same amount of time. So if the SR5 Trail does go out of production, I wouldn't mind getting a TRD OR.

I'm still amazed that the trail edition doesn't have the "trail" camera like the Pro has.

Mine is due to come in March 1st. Put my deposit down early Sept. Was told 3-4 month wait at the time but turned into 6 months.
