That's just like your opinion man, but doesn't superboost make more sense if wheelsets can be swapped between DH bikes and trail bikes?
Now if Hardtails and XC bikes will adopt the spacing.

Rockymounts DriveShaft mounts to the front bed rail and clamps onto the thru axle. Lockable, holds bike securely, easy to use, really liked it. It is for thru axle fork mount only, so you'd have to get their 9mm specific mount if that is what your bike uses. Or go with Thule or Yakima that you know. As DingleTower said locking fork mounts are only suitable for very short term security. But if you combine it with a different primary lock it does add security since a thief may not have tools to defeat both. I used a heavy chain or cable locked to a ring bolted to the bed. Best to store the bike out of sight if leaving it for an extended time.

For storing the front wheel TW member TMCmakes makes a useful mount. I use this all the time so the front wheel doesn't flop around. Again, thru axle only. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mtb-wheel-hauler-contest-name-this-thing.711725/

I'm definitely in that category. Probably the only person on the internet who will admit it though : )

    Hardtails are XC bikes...AND MORE!

But really, with all the long travel enduro options available, who owns a DH bike these days? :D Hardtail/XC and enduro bikes having ~90% swappable parts (approaching 100% if you can reduce fork travel sufficiently) makes a ton more sense to me.

DH bikes I personally hold in a different category due to the nature of DH riding being intentionally more hardcore than others, so parts for that being "unique" (like DH157 standard) vs the rest of the quiver makes sense to me.

This 3D printed tension tool works just as well as the pro tool. Personally I have not had to touch the spokes on my carbon wheels at all after initial break in. Going on 4th season on my current set.

I think it was Neil on GMBN that set faster lap times on an enduro than a DH bike at a bike park, and I trust his results beings he does/did have World Cup speed at one time. I think he raced Tahnee and beat her on the Canyon Senders.

Anyways, Neil and Blake both said they’re just fine on Enduro bikes for day to day bike parks, but there for an entire week is when the difference started to show for wear and tear on the energy levels.

I will say I wish that you could reduce say a 36 or 38 from 120-180mm, where you’re only penalty was weight. That would make modular bikes like RideGG more volatile. As replacing a shock is much easier and cheaper for the different chain stays.

I also think we will see most hubs for high end builds go to center lock, I think that’s all Chris King offers now and I’m a big fan of that too. Weight savings and easier replacement. Hell it can even come lose and not damage anything. :crapstorm:

You can change the travel on a Fox 36 with a relatively cheap internal assembly change by a surprising amount when I looked, but I forget the travel ranges.

Edit: Looks like 100-180 is feasible with the right parts combo.

So from my understanding and it's been a while since I looked into this, not all Fox 36 are created with equal stanchion length.
This is talking pre 38 days.

Anyways, I thought that if you bought a low travel 36 say around 140, and a 180 travel fork the actual stanchions were different lengths, which meant that going to short of an air shaft on a higher travel fork may cause top out internally, and going too long of an airshaft on a shorter fork meant the stanchions could actually separate.

It seemed silly to me that they would have more than one stanchion length, but we're in a weight weenies sport so if shortening stanchions saved weight this may be true.

Shhhhh!!! My 34 identified me as "not an XC racer" until recently. If word gets out, they'll be coming for our 36's next.

I think it originally started because the 27.5 36 and the 29 36 shared the same CSU at 44mm offset but then longer travel 29 needed a longer CSU than the 27.5 lowers could accommodate so they made a short and long CSU?

May be onto something, I honestly don’t remember. It is definitely something I’d call about before making a purchase.

This article is fair game as news and non-political IMO.

    The comments are great:
    [IMG] AyJayDoubleyou (7 hours ago)
Lance Armstrong excited to hear that drugs are now mandatory to race bicycles in France.

Looking forward to the civil and fact base discussion here.

That article was clearly garbage like its topic. Housing inequality/affordability is rampant in lots of places and that does not equal to crime in those places.

Agreed on the comments at pinkbike. Probably in need of some heavy moderation because there is no self-policing going on there.

I read the Pinkbike comments on the article much longer than I should admit at work. Yet, i never commented myself.

Weirdly, Vital trips the firewall at work and will not open. I can view their videos on YouTube, but nothing directly on site.

That’s some bullshit. Keeping customers is clearly not a priority for them.
My NOX Farlows have been faultless. Super solid wheelset.
I have a few wheelsets I’m running concurrently. The DT Swiss ex751, NOX Farlow, and Zipps. Each have their strengths and weaknesses.
Someone else said it, but it bears repeating. How a wheel feels is ALL about how it’s built. There are ranges to each, and you can make all three feel very similar.
That being said, the Zipps definitely have a distinct feel to them. They are certainly my fave of the bunch. They’ve been solid, but do come out of true more than the NOX, about the same as the DT.
The NOX, with bladed spokes, are practically a fit and forget wheel. I’ve never had to true them, over 2k miles. The Zipps and DT need to be adjusted about every 750. The DT are dented, but work fine for now.
I’m thinking about building a new wheelset now, mullet. I’d build a Zipp up front, and NOX out back. Lighter side of tension in front, stiffer out back. Both bladed spokes. Grip and compliance in front, solid and stiff for the rear wheel.

I'll have to dig deeper, but there does appear to be some bifurcation in forks. You can find Fox 36 air assemblies to change travel between 150 and 170-180 with ease, but not lower. Can't tell if thats a CSU issue or if its the fact that the market for people wanting 100mm Fox36s is approaching zero, and not worth retailers shelf space to stock those parts.
