Our driveway is super bumpy, like the asphalt is really rough, so the snow packs in there and iced up at night. All the roads have been plowed since yesterday evening, so my roommates and I when out today in their cars. When they got back, things had froze and I had to pull both up the driveway lol. Ones an automatic fwd Camry, other is a manual fwd Corolla

Thanks, Randy. I think I’m leaning towards keeping the Pro setup for now, then spring (pun intended) for a more robust setup when I get back to serious wheeling with y’all.

I have ADS coilovers and couldn't be happier with them. They're about the same price as anyone else, but what stood out to me was their resistance to corrosion compared to other brands. I also think they have a bit of a shorter build time compared to the other manufacturers in this current climate.

    wanna be mods
@Mojo Jojo recently jumped into the ADS, I believe his coilovers are on and he is doing a rear relocation for his ADS rear setup...and he upgraded from his 2020 Pro Fox suspension...also @the.sight.picture has ADS all around, so between these guys and Sam, I'm sure you would have plenty of "to-be" local insight and likely able to "feel" the difference before you try. I mean isn't that as close to a manufacturer offering a "try before you buy" test (or at least for me looking forward at possible suspension upgrades/changes, this sure could be helpful in the buttdyno testing aspect)!

Best of luck researching and resisting temptation for another year-give-or-take (think of the shipping savings though)!

Thanks fellas! I will have to look into ADS...and the shipping thing, that is no freaking joke. Probably wise of me to just run the TRD Pro suspension until I leave to save on shipping alone, haha!

Is there anything I should be aware of when buying missing nuts/bolts for sliders/skids at Lowe’s? Gotta get all the hardware for the T-Case skid/cross member and might have some missing for the sliders.

Also, has anyone used ATF or power steering fluid when rebuilding shocks?

If you don't mind waiting a little bit I would try McMaster-Carr for nuts and bolts. At the very least get zinc-plated and 8.8 or harder.

The big box stores stores typically carry grade 4 or 5. I used to work at home depot and thats all we had. If you can find an ACE or Pleasants, you'll more easily find higher grade bolts. Or McMaster is a good place like Dave suggested. My Pleasants hardware carries JIS hardware too which just gives me a all the warm fuzzies inside for matching all the toyota bolts

For metric, look at class 8.8 and or 10.9

For imperial, look at grade 8

as reference between the systems, metric class 10.9 and imperial grade 8 bolts have the same min proof strength, tensile, and yield strength. (120kpsi~830 mpa)

there is no such thing as metric grade 8 bolts, I see that suggested way to much on facebook toyota groups lol

since everyone likes learning and bolts are fun, so here are some fun tables. kpsi = kilopound per square inch, isn't it so much fun to combine metric prefixes with imperial base units? MPa is mega pascals, which is 1,000,000 newtons per square meter. Strength is a materials ability to withstand stress. proof strength is the figure you'll want to look at, as its is the amount of load a bolt can withstand before the bolt sees 0.2% of permanent deformation. metric is arguably superior, but imperial is a lot easier to conceptualize, so here is a fun little example:

Stress = Force/Area, so re-arranging, Force = stress * area. A grade 8 3/8" bolt proof strength = 120,000 lb/in^2 (table 8-9) and tensile area of 0.0775 in^2 (table 8-2), so it can withstand a proof load 9,300 lbs. This would be for pure tension, and sliders will be under combined loading so its not necessarily directly relateable, but the moral is that bolts are really strong and thats cool!

If you bought them new and don't mind waiting for the mail, shoot RCI an email and I'm positive they'll send you the missing bolts.

CALI RAISED sells the install hardware. I ordered the cross-member hardware (complete set) for $8 and I got it in about 4 days.
