OEM bed step is the best, most practical mod ever. I’ve had one on all 3 of my Gen 3’s with the most recent one being installed as I write this.

Love mine and use it all the time. Kinda wish they had a passenger side option though.

Mounted it on the truck today and I'm happy with the result. The hardest part for me was taking off the two existing bolts on the truck, I had to put quite a bit of force to get them to loosen. Putting the bolts back on with the bed step attached was also tricky, but with an extension and a universal joint adapter, it wasn't too bad. I tried to keep the angle straight as much as possible while using the universal joint to avoid torque inaccuracy. Thanks for the advice @Ronk44 , tightening the bolts by hand and with a regular ratchet before using the torque ratchet made it easier. I set the step itself to its most outside setting to shift it more to the left, that way it's easier for me to get a foot in on the side. If I had used the suggested step placement, it would have shifted it right about an inch or so.

Bed step? Absolutely! Especially if there is a little chrome in your beard.

True story, I work in a machine shop, a group of good guys. One, however, he’s the one we all say “make sure you don’t do what Terry did?!?!” You know, things like never wear boxers, only boxer briefs, since he is forever sitting down then abruptly standing up “oooph, I just sat on myself!” So, back to the bed step. You see, he has a kinda John Wayne sideways walk/swagger, every chiropractor’s dream patient. He has a Ram 2500 4wd. Jumped down out of the bed, said ouch that hurt. Fast forward 6 months, numerous bottles of ibuprofen, finally heeds his wife’s advice to go get his hip “looked at”. Well, apparently that day he jumped out of the truck and landed, he shoved his hip ball up into the cartilage of the hip socket and killed that little spot. Hip replacement - and one more thing added to the list of things Terry does that we don’t want to do. It doesn’t hurt near as much learning from someone else’s mistakes as from your own. I will always use my bed step.

I'm going to order one , I'm assuming to go with the OEM from what I'm reading. Is the the part # for the 3rd gen. -PT39235100?

Comes in handy a lot. Truck came with it. Would I buy it if I didn't have it on it... probably.

Getting one for myself. Found an OEM one for $190. Is it as good as it gets?

I had the same issue with the bolts. Those f**kers were TIGHT!
I got tired of trying to use my wheels as a step. I love it!

Mine would too, but for like 200 I can deal with it as its not that big of a deal to me and I wouldn't use it all that much at this point

It's amazing the number of things that can be rationalized as "Good investments" as the hairs turn gray. Doctor visits are SPENDY! ;-)

The dealership where I bought the truck gives a great discount on the purchase of accessories to suckers like me.

About the same price as you found, and all I had to do is ask!

I Installed the oem step last weekend. The previous week I slipped off the tailgate while my wife laughed at me and said I needed something to assist getting into the bed. Good advice and should have done it sooner. Oem bolts came right off with an impact. Total Instal time 20 mins. Best investment so far...

I posted earlier about getting a crooked bracket and didn't realize it until it was already installed. I did contact AMP! about it. I have yet to hear back from AMP! about their improper mounting plates. At this rate, I am going to replace it with an OEM one from Amazon so I can just return it if the same thing happens. Everytime I see a straight one in line with the bumper, I get a little PTSD.

Excellent, practical accessory. I don't need it daily, but it is a great feature.

Mine came as a port add-on. I didn't get the best value, obviously. But of the stuff that gets bolted or stuck on at the port (tube steps, exhaust tips, emblem overlays), this is up there with the bed mat in terms of practicality and usefulness.

Yep, that's something I repeatedly reminded my kids about. Usually far less painful and/or expensive to learn from someone else's experience. :D

Yes, that's the part # AFAIK.

I installed mine - the OEM part - in late 2016 if I remember correctly. It still works perfectly today with zero maintenance. While I don't use it daily, I do use it regularly.
