I'm already gonna build my own for my DCLB. If I was setup to do it, I'd make a set for a price and finish mine while I was at it. I've been sitting on my material for 4 years now I think? :anonymous:

Getting kinda serious about starting a Fab business. Just need to sit down, hammer out a few start-up designs, plan a business model, and then see where it takes me. Thinking of going back to school next year to get a business degree that I can fall back on if it doesn't pan out.

With a 4 year lead time, you'll be competitive with the established businesses

Also, make plow brackets for Civics

Spent a ton of time in a desert. I figure have at least 5 gallons of water per day. Already have the Moab book. Just ordered it in.

What you thinking? I am always up for helping build things.

I volunteer to test things out. I'm usually out two or three times a month seeing what trouble I can get into.

A 4 year lead time is definitely quicker than some of the current lead times out there

Once established I'd be looking for Marketing Affiliates to test product at reduced prices. Business generation is the #1 reason 80% of small businesses fail within the first couple years. Can't keep the doors open if you can't keep customers coming.

Really just in the Brainstorming phase at the moment, I have a few ideas for things, and a few business ventures into partnerships with established companies.

For me I would probably strictly stay local for a time to get all the kinks worked out and SLOWLY spread. Small businesses that try to spread fast always fail

How can he break stuff when he's always switching stuff out before he can break it?

Oh yeah, definitely. I'd try to get a user base locally, as an alternative to Adve.... ...tors. *cough* I know at least 3 4x4 groups and a few parks I'd reach out to in the area to generate business.

Almost all have to start out with "word of mouth" then if the product is good it grows. Usually small business has a hard time competing with price compared to the big company. They don't get the materials at reduced cost because they don't buy in bulk. I build furniture as a hobby. People do not realize how much materials alone cost when you aren't buying in mass quantities. I just made a side table for a neighbor that is 30" long x 24" high x 9" wide. Two levels to the table. It cost me about $120 in materials alone.

And when you're ready to spread you can be a vendor at events like ATR and Shakedown

Which is why I'd try to establish myself at a lower labor rate, using a few of my own unique designs and a few installs of DIY kits from established partners at first. Simple things like ECGS bushing installs, Cab mount chops, and simple modifications would be a staple that I start with as a crutch that could be used till my business can walk on its own designs.

And finding that one thing that nobody knew they needed until they see it is the golden ticket. I have a few ideas for things. I just don't have the shop or equipment to build them.
