I've been on the hunt for a 2015 taco sport for awhile now. I have a preapproved loan and have opened up my search to "nationwide" recently and I think I may have found the one. I'm from Texas and was hoping to find a Texas Taco so I didn't have to worry so much about rust and the vehicle having to overcome harsh winters. I have been looking over these photos meticulously and cannot really see anything that leads me to believe this truck is a rust bucket, but it's spent all 7 years of its life in Wallingford, CT. It's now being sold out of Ohio. Do any seasoned vets here have any helpful info that I can use to decide whether to buy this truck or not? It's listed for 27.5K and has less than 100k miles. I greatly appreciate any advice!

It’s a salt belt truck, hard pass for me.

Frame is still under warranty unless someone welded on it. 30k for a truck with 100k miles is a hard pill to swallow though.

I’d consider selling my 4x4 2014 dcsb with less than 50k miles for $25k.Has salvaged title from driving through flood water 4 years ago, no problems since.

They are great fun but with numbers like that I might just wait the supply chain issues out and buy new.

I have to go with 2015 or newer. I'm financing with USAA and they'll basically double my interest rate if I go older than 2015. At first I had considered 2016-2017 but decided to go with the 2nd gen since the early 3rd gens are not the most reliable

Gotcha….is a private party sale not possible? If you’re patient I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for and save some serious cash. I might shop that loan around too if not. USAA doesn’t seem as competitive as they once were unfortunately.

I paid 32,000 for my DCLB SR5 4x4 brand new in early 2016

    :anonymous:

    A 2015 would be a great if it's not rusty but gott-dayum that's a lot of money for a 100k truck

    Good luck dude

Dang 30G for a 2015, that’s like $37,500 cdn, for another $8500 I can get a new 2022 base off-road. Sure I really like my 2013 but the used prices are stupid. You have to pay taxes and other fees on top of the initial price as well for used as well as new so it gets pricey for both.

Nobody is saving serious cash for any half decent used Tacoma at this time, everybody is paying MSRP or more for new

Maybe find a credit union? It is generally not that big of a bump when going over 7 years.

USAA was materially more for insurance when they bid our home/auto/umbrella, no experience using them for loans though since credit unions are generally hard to beat.

There are still deals out there, you just have to be patient and they’re not likely going to come from a commercial reseller. Check CL and FB marketplace religiously and sooner or later I’ll bet you get lucky.

I had them for years as a HO insurance provider but their premiums kept going up until they were twice what I could get elsewhere for the same coverage.

Wait 2 years for the auto market to cool down.
