so, the factory mud flaps/guards on my dad's 05 just cracked... now they make a horrible sound when the freeway winds hit it...

can y'all recomend some new aftermarket mudflaps? color and material really aren't a big thing... just need them replaced.

it's an 05 prerunner sr5 access cab if that's important.

    thanks!

california has some stupid law requiring you to have front and rear mud flaps... can't allow stuff to be flung at other drivers...

    Fenders and Mudguards

27600. No person shall operate any motor vehicle having three or more wheels, any trailer, or semitrailer unless equipped with fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splash aprons, or unless the body of the vehicle or attachments thereto afford adequate protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread. This section does not apply to those vehicles exempt from registration, trailers and semitrailers having an unladen weight of under 1,500 pounds, or any vehicles manufactured and first registered prior to January 1, 1971, having an unladen weight of under 1,500 pounds.

try ebay. they usually have the exact ones that will fit the 05's to 09's. they might be used, but sometimes they are new and half the price too. check it out

Trust me, you can get away with it. I got pulled over in my Toyota 4x4 with 35" while driving through a weigh station in Tahoe during a snow storm. Cop pulled me over said my mud flaps were too small and I was throwing a rooster tail of snow 15' back. As soon as I got back to Southern California, stopped by my local police station to have the ticket signed off...and they did. I never changed a thing.....cops in So Cal saw mud flaps, all was good. Cop in Tahoe saw mud flaps that were too small, even though they were stock.

Anyway, post a poll and see how many fellow Taco owners live in California, do not have front mud flaps and have been pulled over. I'll go out on a limb and say < 5% and that is high.
