2006 TRD Sport V6 4x4 Access Cab long bed. My rear drive shaft is shot. Locally, the dealership is charging $1300 and NAPA more than that.

Anyone know a good source (OEM preferably) that can ship, or one in the Deep/Mid South that I can pickup? If its too far to drive I have a plane so I can pick up anywhere from E. Texas to W. Tennessee, I am in New Orleans.

    Thanks.

What do you mean by shot? $1300 is way too much, you can get a custom driveshaft built locally for less than that (about $600) My U-joints and Carrier Bearing were about to crap out on me, I just took it to a local shop and had everything rebuilt and re-balanced for $300. I'd recommend doing some research in your area and find a reputable shop that services drivelines and maybe go that route.

I got mine direct from the dealership for like $750.

Thanks, yes. The repair shop that looked at mine said the u-joints, hangar bearings were shot, and with 250,00 miles he said at this point a whole new drive shaft. He said the was a local driveline shop that could do it for about $700 but they had gone out of business since Hurricane Ida. Well, I called them and sure enough they are open. So I asked him to call them and get it straight. Don't know why he was pushing the new driveshaft. I was recommended to them by the local fire chief (friend of mine) and the shop knows he sent me, so I am assuming the guy is on the up with me.

Regarding pricing, I am wondering if inflation and supply chain woes could be pushing them up? I see them online for $550, non oem.

That seems odd, U-Bolts and the CB are really the only consumables. I'm no expert but it seems that a driveshaft doesn't really "expire" for lack of better words. Its a piece of metal, seems like they'd just be able to replace the consumables, re-balance and be done with it.

I think he was saying where the u-joints attached are likely worn, and the hangar bearings? I know nothing about drive train so just going by what he says

Gotcha, I know a lot of people like one piece drivelines. Tom Woods seems like a popular company and I heard you can get one relatively quickly. I don't have any personal experience with this though. Otherwise I'd recommend getting a custom built one from a shop. $700 seems more reasonable. $1300 is just stupid expensive!

    Good luck!
