He’s talking about checking tranny fluid, not changing oil. LOL

Yeah, that's the first pic I found of my truck with the skid trilogy installed, but back to the "tell me you don't have skid plates" post, how do you get to the check plug with skid plates installed?

The transmission dipstick was removed to reduce build cost and it makes the majority of owners reliant on dealers to check transmission fluid level and condition. Anyone who thinks getting the transmission into the target temp range then checking at the plug is easier than popping the hood and checking level on the dipstick is

99.9999 percent of all owners never install full skid plates, which makes the problem insignificant. So back to the question that was asked.

( And let’s say you check it with the dipstick andit’s overfilled. Then you’d be using the check hole to drain some off anyway.)

A dipstick won’t get you away from getting the fluid at proper temp before checking it. It’s easy IMHO to add 3/4 quart of fluid, get it to temp, then let the excess drain to a trickle to get the perfect fluid level. A dipstick adds nothing as far as I can tell.

How would it magically be overfilled?

The only way I could see that happening would be if I serviced and if that was the case then the skids would be removed already.

So drop my skids to check the fluid level and condition? Ain't nobody got time for that.

99.9999%? Wait so you're telling me that of the ~1.6 million second gens sold in the US, only one has a full skid plate? Dang, that is RARE!

99.9999% of those people would have benefited from a transmission dipstick.

Also, I prefer lead core line when trolling.

I dont know how having a transmission dipstick could not help. Most vehicles leak eventually and its good to know what fluid level actually is as opposed to this sealed non sense they put on these things. Dip stick should be required on transmission can I get an Amen?

"We're in the middle of nowhere. What's that burning smell?"

Checks coolant level, ATF fluid and engine oil.

Sixty seconds later: "Did you fart with the A/C on?"

So has anyone with V6 Prerunner 2005-2010 grabbed a pan off a 4Runner and tried to bolt it on to their Taco?

Not yet, as of in this thread.

Further more, how many tools are needed to check the oil level? None. If the trans had a dipstick, the same your be true. Saves time, and at least some dirt on your shirt. :D

Plus if you get creative you can add more fluid in the dipstick. Anyone like funnel cakes?
