Okay, finally got around to taking pics of my 3d printer!

    Upgrades include:
    • LED light on separate power supply and switch
    • BL touch probe that was included with my printer as a bonus - seriously the most useful thing. I haven't leveled the bed in ages.
    • Upgraded bed springs
    • Foam Insulation under the bed for temperature consistency across the bed
    • Bed upgraded to a flexible magnetic once which makes removal easy af
    • PTFE Bowden tube for higher heat applications
    • All metal extruder as the plastic ones tend to break.

So far I've run through 3 Bowden tubes, 5 brass nozzles, and a filament drive gear. All wear and tear. The Bowden tubes failing are from the nozzles getting clogged and then filament fusing to the inside. You can rescue the tube if need be but I typically just replace them. Also, yes, I'm out of the grey filament I was using to prototype and yes, I was too lazy to remove the brim the last time I printed something.

    Future upgrades include
    • Dedicated enclosure
    • Quiet fan upgrade - all noctua
    • cable guides
    • anything else needed to print ABS

Suggestion, if I may be so bold.

When I first bought mine, I saw mentions of the Ender 3 having issues with the filament wearing a slot out of the feeder because of the approach angle and tried a few different guides to alleviate that but none worked very well until I came across this one that moves the spool down to the side so the filament can go straight into the feeder.

    Suggestions always welcome!

You know what's funny, that's one of, if not the FIRST thing I printed. It literally broke on my 2nd to last print I did and the one I did without it didn't seem to have an issue since the feeder is now aluminum. I did only one print so far though haha

An aluminum feeder will almost assuredly not have any issues like the plastic would.

The first thing I printed was that tiny little cover to quiet the damn beep every time you pressed the button.

Well last Saturday I spent the day finally watercooling my PC!

I actually started the night before flushing out my radiators

    A7015DB8-4E40-4D7C-8DCF-9E827486FD08.jpg

Then it was deconstructing time, which gave me one last chance to admire the air cooled setup.

    And installed

I decided to mount my rads and fans. I discovered that the Noctua Fans with and without the bumpers don't really work well on these rads. I scrapped the push pull idea as it was likely overkill anyways.

After that I discovered some interference with the basement cover

So after a solid few days gaming I’m happy to report my thermals are WAY more under control on my GPU. That was the main goal.

i was at toasty 78c when playing Age of Empires 3 DE and now I cruise at around 36c at with the door shut and my 3D printer running.

Halo Infinite was at a 68c and is down to 31c while gaming.

The computer is much quieter now was I turned the fan speed down to around 1000 rpm. This showed me that my 850 gold power supply is the noisiest component and I’ll likely replace it purely out of annoyance. Maybe I’ll just replace the fan. I also 3D printed a GPU sag brace as the water block is thicc and needed some extra support.

Anyways, 10/10 would recommend custom water cooling for your PC

More goodies on the way and being made to complete my battle station, but the computer should be good for a little while now. I might add another 32gb if ram this Black Friday though…

I think it's safe to say Phase 2 is complete! Temps are in check under sustained load, and the system is pretty darn silent except for the PSU.

I had to get a commander pro to make use of my temp probe in the reservoir (which can then change pump speed as needed) so I also got some RGB strips and added them to the case so I can see everything with the heavily tinted side panel on.

    So that's
    1. MSI Dragon for the bottom extra RGB strip I had
    2. Corsair ICUE for the pump and internal strips
    3. Lian Li L Connect for the Fans
3 different software packages to run RGB, but worth it.

I also topped up the reservoir as running it for the first week purged a little bit more air out of the loop.

I have extra temp sensors with my Commander Pro that I could use, but I think it's overkill considering all the other temp monitors I currently use.

Here's the whole setup! I 3D printed a headset stand for my Steel Series headset, which, bang for buck is amazing. I added a larger full desk pad that is RGB AND has usb 2.0 outlets which is kinda cool. overall the setup is pretty dialed. I just need to print an under desk holder for my PS4 controller and the CAD / Gaming rig is complete!

Well I was going to buy 2 more sticks of ram to match but it looks like the cost has casually tripled since I bought these in 2019

    https://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-Ripjaws-PC4-25600-3200MHz-F4-3200C14D-32GVK/dp/B01C6XPGBQ

I could buy 2x16 gb cl16 but then it'll clock to cl16 speeds and be a bit slower

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv6XCkNFwzo

I am going to snag some M.2 heat sinks since my drives don't match AND it bothers me.

Yeah, cables have been tucked away and a few other little bits of tidying up since that pic, but 99% the same. Looking at a bigger monitor once my corp bonus hits in March. Wall needs some new paint as well. It's very beige in there.

I'm more of an Xbox guy for gaming, but I slay Age of Empires campaigns and Halo on this thing. Plus similar things like you have in mind. Runs my vinyl operation that gives me a beer fund over in the corner off camera to the right. Next up is a 3D printer, but I have access to ours at work, so its a low priority on the list.

BRO YOU PLAY AOE? I play that nightly before bed usually, and is 85% why I went to watercooling! I play AOE3 DE mostly rn and love it.

Having a personal 3D printer is the best. I'll have an idea, search thingaverse or draw it if I need to and then boom it's done.

Back to Halo, what Halo? I've been playing infinite with friends on PC and Xbox and it's a ton of fun. I actually play bumper jumper on a PS4 Controller

Halo Master collection so all of them. I'm mainly a campaign guy though.

For online rage fests, I pick COD:MW (the remaster). I had to take a break though, cuz I legit punched a hole through my coffee table one night.

I was just gifted the Master Chief Collection from a friend last night! I'm currently downloading it play this weekend. Halo 3 was my shit I had a handful of 50 accounts.

Yeah I can see that happening. I had a controller I designated for throwing back in college. Most of the plastic was broken or cracked but it still worked.

these days I play for fun, though if I'm feeling it I'll play ranked.

Download Halo Infinite it's free! And play Fiesta where nothing matters because it only matters what weapon you spawn with!

Where did you source your Ender from? I have a ton of Amazon credit so its tempting, but I like buying electronics from Newegg and the like much more.

Directly from them actually (Creality). They had a deal that was really good. It basically was free shipping and a free BLtouch probe for bed leveling which is THE most useful thing. I legit haven't leveled my bed in months. In fact, after the last nozzle / bowden tube replacement I basically just print whenever and whatever I want and it just works.

I should start sharing some of the things I print come to think of it lol

Oh word, like a CMM probe for CNC, got it.

I'll take a look, may have another ridiculous hobby to get into.
