I decided to move on (grow up). I’ll be removing the K&N intake this weekend and will be putting the stock intake back on. I made it 7-8 months with it on & I’ve moved on from the $300 noisemaker with no other benefits. I may have noticed a small increase in throttle response, but that’s about it. MPG didn’t go up, just kinda blah. I’m over it and will be switching back to my OEM air box with paper filter finally. Good move?

Yes. Your OEM intake was already cold air.

It's why research before buying is a grand idea.

Now list it in the BST forum so some kid can buy it. :D

My MAF held up this far, with regular cleaning I did to it with MAF cleaner. Not sure why I ever got it in the first place… probably cuz I was young and thought it sounded cool… dumbass! But I’ll be making the change back to stock and I’m glad I finally am

FWIW, K&N made a pretty big difference on my 07 ranger. Way better throttle response and more power/torque at lower RPMs, and of course it sounded amazing.

On my taco I have “poor man’s” TRD intake. Maybe a little better throttle response and a great sound. It doesn’t do anything else. On modern vehicles an intake is just a noise maker pretty much. I’m keeping it though, the growl at 6-7k rpm is beastly.

Not sure why some folks think a “warm air” intake will increase MPGs.

I mean I like it. Sounds real nice at higher RPMs and also once it shifts and the rpm’s go lower has that deep growl. But the filtration is what worries me. I just know & read that stock filters better than these. My MPG have gotten a *little* bit better since installing the K&N but nothing to get real excited about. I’d rather lose .8-1.0mpg to know it’s not letting tiny dust particles by

I was just screwing around haha, I’m a bit of a clown.

Regarding the filtration, maybe it’s true. I ran K&N on my previous vehicles for many years and never had issues with poor filtration or MAF for that matter.

I’m definitely keeping mine as I really love that mean growl, especially after the tune.

Do what you like and enjoy!

Go to an FJ or 3rd gen box, more filter area but still a better "paper" filter, more direct flow path less noise but still a tiny bit more grunt than stock more throttle response I even notice a slight MPG gain.
