XC Racer is a state of mind. Usually identified by wearing full matching lycra/socks even on enduro trails for some reason.

@flipnidaho Can you tell me about outdoor access / vibe in Nampa, ID? Is it worthy of consideration?

Went to the bike shop again due to my bike making a lot of clicking noise. The tech took it back to look at it it. He changed the rear cassette, said that the company Shimano outsourced the part to china and they’re crap. He had issue with the cassettes before. So he upgraded me to the real part at no cost. I also ordered those YAKIMA - Locking BlockHead for my bed rail. ill see how they work out

I'm interested, the arrival is supposed to be modular as well and if it's an easy air shaft assembly it may be worth having 1 or 2 different sizes to go with the links they will be developing.

    Keep us updated.

XC Racer is a state of mind and it's calling gear "kit".
As in go to foxracing and look at MX Gear, and MTB Kit

Depends. Are you moving or visiting?

If moving, I would try for closer to town (or at least Eagle) to get closer to the trail system. Ideally, if moving to the Boise area and you love riding/skiing/fishing/running, you're going to want to move to the Northend. From the Northend, you can walk to downtown Boise, and you can get to the trails without driving. Bogus Basin (the local ski hill) is only 15 miles and 100 switchbacks away from the Northend.

There's an opportunity to move out there but I did notice it appeared far away from the action. I can ride to trails from my porch right now so a move would necessitate ideal outdoor rec access. If living in Northend and working in Nampa - is that realistic? Also, I'm assuming cost of living is ridiculous?

Edit: Oh God I think I answered my own question

Yes, the influx of California money has raised the cost of living quite a bit in Boise. But for what you get (in outdoor opportunities, real job opportunities), you can't beat the Boise area. It's still cheaper than the Bay Area and if you shop right, the cost of living (outside of housing), isn't bad at all.

I'm so old school that I have a hard tail fat chance from the 90's sitting. All kooka, paul, and ringle components.
Haven't been able to ride the last few years due to back and knee surgery.
So....ebike I went. 50mph aint bad on dirt trails...scary as hell but fun!

In laws just moved to Nampa and it's a 20 + min drive to Eagle bike park. ( which was rad!)

Meridian might be a happy medium close to Nampa, closeish to riding

The quick trips I've been up there super cool area.

Do It ! Move into this neighborhood

Picked up my wife's new bike today, which happens to fit me too! Took it for a short spin today and it tractors up hills for a 170mm travel bike.
