I considered selling mine when I realized what guys were getting for them.... until I looked at the new truck prices and the dealer's unwillingness to negotiate on a 21 Tundra TRD Pro (wouldn't budge from 5k over msrp)..... even after the supply chain issues are "resolved" I am willing to bet the prices still won't come down.....

People who are willingly (blindly? ignorantly?) paying inflated MSRP+ prices right now are literally part of the problem. But once a week I'll see someone rolling around in a brand new vehicle.

Prices will be high until new vehicles are in surplus and sitting on lots not moving. It's going to be a long time.

I would pass on that, its whole life it lived in CT with almost 100k miles. So it’s been driven in winter with all those miles. Plus if it was clean underneath the dealership would of took pictures of it. They know that’s a huge selling point for Tacoma’s. You live in Texas, get a Tacoma from there, not from the rust belt.

Think about it, you gotta have a pretty decent income to pay $800-$900 a month truck payment, have an inflated high-priced trade in or a bag of cash to begin with to get a new one. I don't feel sorry for people who pay $50+ out the door and If I was selling something I wouldn't feel guilty for charging the same price that everyone else was selling it for.

I would pass on that. I would just wait for the market to cool down. I bought my 2015 dclb trd sport prerunner in Florida with 58k miles for 22k in 2019. The kbb is more than what i bought it for with 103k miles now. In december 2020 I priced out a 2021 dclb trd offroad 4x4 for 36k new but didn't go with it. It might be a while but the market will cool down eventually. Good thing tacomas are just breaking in at 100k miles.

Prices will never come down. Chyna threw in the towel, no more globalization. They're throttling everything back, factories, production, etc.

Throw in the emerging hyperinflation because the petro dollar has run it's course, soon to be Weimar Republic.

Interest rates will never go up compounding the problem even more. They'll go negative before the fed raises them.

The crippling supply chain issues don't show signs of letting up, it will be while before car prices drop

Life goes on, if you need a truck, buy a truck. But buy wisely.

I'd get a gen 4 4runner with under 150k miles and ride it out for a few years to figure it out. Ive considered selling my tacoma to get one to be without a car payment but I'm too close to being finished. Toyotas, especially older ones are indestructible. Had two 1998 4Runners before this tacoma with 568k miles between the two. Easiest way to ride out the storm.

    Lol

plenty of silliness here pricing wise too but the ones (that sell) from private parties are still priced right. My truck was originally priced at 19k! Seller had unrealistic expectations and eventually came down to where I was comfortable…which was KBB range. I see a lot of trucks listed for months and months because the seller is trying to get a grossly inflated amount. It’s the seller’s choice of course but I’m not seeing those insanely priced trucks move. Dealerships seem to be a different story to be fair. People feel a little more comfy overpaying there for one reason or another. :notsure:

Anyway, I wish the OP good luck in finding what he’s looking for without breaking the bank! Don’t give up, it might take a few months.

I don't think that would make it a salvage vehicle. I feel like you are being lied too.
