Yeah that rite of passage funny stuff. I'm not familiar with fuel oil. Is it like diesel fuel? I'm guessing you guys are talking for like a boiler heating system?

I don't drive it in the winter anyway -- the thing gets stuck in the fog.

 

More or less the same thing just it is dyed in some areas because it is not taxed

Then you get into the Low Sulfur Diesel #1 Diesel which is kerosine

I actually run off road diesel in it just because it is easily available. This furnace is a warm air type, the same style of burner is used in a residential boiler as well.

Heavier fuels have more energy (btu per gallon) in them, lighter fuels resist gelling up in cold weather.

In order of energy content:
#2 heating oil 139,600 -- commonly called indoor oil, for tank in basement
Diesel fuel 139,000
#1 heating oil 137,400 -- commonly called outdoor oil or blend
Kerosene 135,000

It will cost you more (gallons) to heat with kerosene because there is less energy per gallon, kerosene also costs more as it is more refined than heating oil. On the plus side kerosene will never gel up in the cold and it burns cleaner than heating oil.

I refinished the wood floors in my 1st house when I was early 20s rented a drum sander & went to town never thought about the furnace or covering anything, that was 35 or so years ago & I'll bet the saw dust is still falling from the ceiling & window panes---The floors looked great right after I ran a dust mop across them though

 

It is commonly said we spend 1/3 of our life sleeping, that sounds so easy...but yet it isn't...

Goodmorning crew. I'm going to have 2 maybe 3 individuals for this training. Things are different here than they used to be, as far as paperwork and the training materials. More by the book these day's.

 

Our mail lady would always fold the books in half to fit them in the mail box.
