My buddy bought his Taco (3rd gen) (lifted from the previous owner) and doesn't like the lift. He says he wants to just trade suspension parts to go back to stock. I'll be getting more details on brand, exact size of lift, etc later today. Would I be dumb not to swap with him? I've been contemplating getting a lift already but haven't been sold on it yet (priority is paying it off first).

Do you want a lift on your truck? If so, then yes.
If it's just a spacer lift, I think I would pass on it though.

It all depends on what is in the swap.

If it was trading roughcountry coilovers for your stock setup id stick with stock

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
You'd be dumb if it's a pile of poo lift. And they do exist. Or if you don't actually need a lift.

    Report back the details.

In the meantime, if you decide it's a no-go for you, low mile OE takeoffs are available for very modest cost. He can return to OE w/o pilfering your truck for pretty low dollars. Then sell what he has.

If the lift he has does end up being non-ideal, I'll have a full OEM setup from a 2021 TRDOR with 9,000 miles on it ready to go by the end of the weekend.

Something to consider. Why is your buddy removing the lift????

Many times a lift will bring on additional problems.

Why do you want a lift? If for looks, then pass. If for off-roading, then the stock truck is very capable. If for rock crawling, then you have a whole new set of parameters that your buddy's lift may not handle.

Be prepared for lower MPG, Alignment, different ride quality, possible additional maintenance.

    Remember.

So, this is what I got....

"Pretty sure the lift is a 3" fits 33's. Element upper a arms. Icon leaf packs. Bilstein 5125 shock in rear. I am assuming the front shock is after market also, bilstein coilover, cant see model and I dont wanna crawl under truck."

He got spoiled by a raptor, then a sporty BMW, and has back issues and drives a TON for work, which is a driving factor for why he doesn't want it.

For me, it would be a daily, and something I can take off road when my Jeep is down (currently need an engine swap).

Thank you for all of the replies. Does that particular lift combo sound pretty decent overall for my use case?
