    Morning everybody,

This is something else we do in my shop. Test, repair and certify the air packs that the KSC Fire Department wears during a call. Once airflow is initiated, these have alarms that go off in 20 seconds if movement isn't detected, incase of loss of consciousness. Tested with 4000psi breathing air. Its not sexy but it's gotta be done.

That is cool, back when I was in the volunteer FD we wore these old Scott packs, when I got out they were transitioning into the new tanks with fiberglass or whatever they are now.

I notice the port labeled 2216 psi -- why the oddly specific number?

Smartest thing I did when remodelling the kitchen & dining room a few years back was get a real dry-waller in to mud & tape. Cost me $300 + materials and it was all done in six hours over three days (and I'm pretty sure I would have spent that $300 on mud, so... win!).

When we redid our kitchen it was a friend and I who did it. I told him I would finish the mud, I started on it and tapped out. He finished it and it looks great.

I did our bathroom, looked good until I painted it :anonymous:

    I. Don't. Paint.

I've told SWMBO that if she wants me to paint, then I will, but it's going to be with my compressor & gun, and it's contractor white, walls, floors, ceiling....

My friend got very good at interior painting between doing his own and his kids houses -- but really doesn't like to paint.

Rusty: Want to earn some extra cash?
    Friend: Doing what?
    R: Painting.
    F: I hate painting!
R: Want to earn some extra cash?
    F: :censored: ...All right...

My buddy who helped me redo the kitchen didn't charge me anything, he ask me to put a clutch in his GMC Sonoma truck. I paid for the clutch and put it in, I think I would have rather paid him

The 2216 psi is for a different pack that the FD uses called a Rit pack, different bottle, different regulator setup.

Our bottles are fiberglass nowadays, they handle heat pretty well I'd say.

I hate the trim work cutting in around everything. Rolling the walls is easy.

The fact that we have to do semi-annual inspections on every single pack(hundreds) which includes changing 6 double A batts from a pack that rarely if ever gets deployed is one of the best perks of the job. My employer tells us to make the old batts disappear we cant risk letting them get mixed in with the freshies. Copy that :)

We do the same thing at my FD .. so many batteries..

Two weeks ago we took delivery of 18 new MSA packs that use battery packs that are rechargeable so that's going to be a change for us

I did my S10 a few times, pretty straight-forward, although, even though it was a small transmission, that sumbitch was HEAVY!

Oh yeah... I forgot about those. IIRC, about 8' of extension and a swivel socket did the trick!
