I recently acquired a 98 Tacoma base model with no bells and whistles. The instrument panel only has speed, temp, fuel and idiot lights. I'd like to upgrade it with a panel from a fancier model with tach and full gages.
This is my question: would an upgraded panel be plug & play if it's from a deluxe model truck, or would I have to splice and tap into the harness, etc? I'm hoping the wiring harness is standard across all the models and only the panel is different.
Any information and advice is appreciated.

@BartMaster1234, could you give a few details. Plug & play, or complicated process? I'm guessing any gen-1 dash will fit?
    Thanks

As long as you match engine displacement and odometer drive type (cable driven versus digital VSS) then you can plug in any first Gen cluster.

Just remember mileage follows the instrument cluster. So if you swap it won’t be the same.

Hi BartMaster1234 thanks again for your help with my power mirrors, I bought another switch with a different number looked the same as the others from Amazon and it worked.

Thoughts on where to get a replacement panel? Ebay?
