I've done it in a brushless car wash. It was fine. I don't think I'd send it through an automated brush wash. Is that what the folks have done that say it's no problem?

    Thanks for the replies!
The Softopper website says “You can go through a touchless car wash.” It seems most people here agree with that.

I don’t think lowering the top prior to washing will be an option for me. In cold temps it isn’t recommended because the windows crack. If I waited for a day above 40F it would never get washed lol.

The most convenient car wash for me isn’t touchless but it still sounds like the benefits from the ST will out weigh the inconvenience of going out of my way for touchless/self service. Thanks again

I bought mine used for 400 in great condition, and I've had it for 4 years now with the only issue of me breaking a snap button. It was a 10 dollar or so repair with the kit they sell. Other than that its been great. I don't see why it wouldn't last another 15 years or so. It is garaged though.

I wouldn't buy one at MSRP. I too found one used, and it's certainly worth the $450-500. Mine is not garage-kept, but is holding up nicely. Very durable canvas. I did recently crack the rear window (cold weather) and had to order a $100 replacement.

On cold days don’t roll the top just unzip it all the way up and flip it on top of the topper

I did that and still got an 8" crack. I plan to be extremely gentle with the window whenever it gets to be below freezing.

Love the softtop and surprisingly stays dry even under moderate rains

Damn that sucks. Yea I’m pretty ginger with it on cold days. Plus with my rack I have can’t fold it on top anymore. So on cold days I treat it like a flip up rear window

Both gorilla tape and flex tape make a clear tape. That's my plan if mine cracks, but I haven't had to try it yet

I don’t have the whole tent extension thing set up in the photos, but the pvc frame is my modified part. I added clips with paracord that attach to the existing clips on the topper. I just find it sets up way quicker than the adjustable metal thing that came with the tent extension.
Sorry about the bad night photos.

I've been thinking about doing something similar, except with the PVC going from the rear window's crossbar into my bed stiffener's top holes, so that it sits slanted slightly down over the tailgate like a tiny awning.

Been thinking about how I can make an awning over the back. Would like to have rain and sun cover for the swingouts and kitchen setup.

Currently rocking gorilla tape. Black colored though, makes the rear panel look rough. Could be weeks till the replacement ships out, bummer!

Slumberjack! I don't have a pic of mine set up but it works excellent. The walls are screened in and there's a screen that fits underneath the open tailgate. I found ours for $180 new and it's definitely worth MSRP.upload_2022-1-21_8-9-3.jpg

Agreed. I was super happy to have found it. We use it as a kitchen for extended camps when we pitch the tent. And for shorter trips we don't pitch a tent and just sleep in the truck bed with the tailgate down.

What's the setup/takedown time like? And how tight does it pack up?

I was in the driveway yesterday testing out a few setups. I also have the slumberjack in the garage. Going to test it out this morning! Here are a few pictures of a tarp setup I tried yesterday....

Pretty quick. 15 minutes maybe. It packs away nicely too. Doesn't fit behind the back seat but probably 20" x 8".
