    Thank you. Interesting as to your input on if there is a limit to the amount of inspections you can get. My boss has a 2008 Tundra that is practically a museum piece. He takes crazy care of it. When all this frame stuff started he took it in for the inspection: "No trouble found" His frame is fine. The service manager told him they see a few like his from time to time that have absolutely no issues, but they are the exception and they have no idea why. It's kind of a case study at the dealership he brings it to. He takes it in every year and they inspect it and touch it up here and there with some kind of coating and send him on his way. My sister-in-law has a Sequoia. Same kind of owner: it's spotless. She casually mentioned she was taking it in for them to replace the frame. I went out to take a look at it. Incredible damage: in the area where the frame wraps up over the rear axle on the driver's side there was a hole I could easily put my fist through.....>>with BOXING GLOVES ON<<. Absolutely amazing. They were so impressed with the rest of the truck they gave her some Lexus suv for a loaner.

    @Williston

    This is the "trouble spot" on the driver's side that my independent mechanic Pete found when I brought the truck in for annual safety inspection and emissions testing; A chunk actually came off as you can see, but it did not qualify for a replacement...

    No worries! I think if we were prudent about washing the undercarriages after snow storms most would be fine but that’s a lot to ask in New England some years. I read somewhere that no post 2011 Tacoma has qualified yet for the replacement but that may have been outdated info. :notsure:

    It’s crazy that that shot alone wouldn’t have done the trick.

    You mean that spot? Yeah, it was rusted but it wasn't "perforated"...

    After the body was mounted on the new frame; At this point, my truck was no longer a 2-ton jigsaw puzzle and actually resembled a truck again!

    I paid a little under $1,100 out of pocket to get some stuff replaced that was easier to access when the truck was taken apart, including the engine mounts, water pump, and the rear shock absorbers; I went with Bilsteins, which can be seen here...

    Technically four days, but I had to bring it back within minutes of picking it up because the tech didn't properly reconnect the transmission shift linkage and it would jump out of Drive every time I hit the brakes; Ended up being a week because I got it back on Friday evening and they weren't able to to fix their SNAFU until Monday.

    Thank you. I didn't get anything similar from the dealer that did the inspection and treated my frame: only the service receipt summary of what they did, the formal Corp. campaign summary and the list of parts and materials used. I put it in a safe place with the other paperwork from the purchase of the truck.

    On another note, I got a nice Carfax from the dealer when I went to look at the truck. It has a fairly complete service history, showing good service and oil change history at various dealers and at a local place with a good reputation, but there was a large gap in it as far as the maintenance history. Especially oil and filter changes. One day I decided to download and install the Toyota app on my phone to try it out, and when I gave it my VIN, lo-and-behold for the most part it filled in the maintenance history gap for any work performed at a dealership and most of it was dealer L-O-F's every 5-7,000 miles on average that was missing. It was a nice bonus to acquire. I get the feeling reading the two things that the truck started life as a lease. It looks like one: especially the interior no grunge, dog hair or french fries between the seats and the console :thumbsup: and no dings or paint chips on the bumpers and sides because they kill you with charges when you turn them in if they do. Check it out and you may pick up some good info you don't have: selling dealer, registrations, re-calls and campaigns, etc.

    interesting - what is the name of the app? There’s a zillion different Toyota apps in the App Store!

    As long as you had the treatment done you should qualify for the 12 year from DOFU frame warranty. I found this service bulletin online that spells the process out unequivocally. That program is set to expire in March of this year so those who ignored the CRC campaign will be out of luck!

    If I understand the one you're under correct, same as my 2010 was. That first inspect and treatment is what buys you the second (and final) inspection, which must be done within 12 years of first date the truck is put into service. That second inspection either passes you and you're live without a net or you fail and you get a replaced frame etc.

    Like @PennSilverTaco I have a 2010 single cab and got the new frame last year. Pics in my album, mine had 2 spots on the passenger side in April 2021 the size of a 10mm socket or more. One just caved in when I pushed with a finger to a 2x3 inch hole. I did the first inspect/treat in 2017 or 18 (I forget) and that meant I had until late Sept 2021 to do the final. I noticed my exhaust hanger falling in April and that day found the passenger rail rot holes I mentioned.

    Don't hold me to it @Williston but I believe the second inspection is pass/fail and you only get one crack at it. Therefore, unless you find perforation prior it's in your best interest to wait as close to the 12 years as you can.

    Definitely don't miss that cutoff, I know someone who was 12 years 2 months and was rejected for a new frame despite having sufficient perforation to qualify.

    Hey Chris - check out the bulletin sent out to dealerships from Toyota I attached above(about the CRC application/frame replacement). It doesn’t state anything about a max number of inspections you get after the initial CRC application but DOES unequivocally state that the CRC campaign ends in March of 2022 and if you missed that on your 2011-2017 Tacoma you’re out of luck.

    I don’t see evidence of anything applied to the outside of my frame….just plugs and the snot oozing out from inside here and there.

    @shakerhood had a similar experience with his 2017 DCSB; Also, Thompson Toyota has a record of my truck getting a second treatment that I don't remember getting...
