All depends on backlog. The approval rate seems to be non-linear for the couple years I've been keeping tabs on it, so after they get past the usual election time gun buying surge pile, there may be a lull where stuff gets pushed through faster.

I have no problem mounting my Magnetospeed under my Sandman with only the included spacers in the kit. Short of a massive can for a .338 or something, you should be fine.

Sounds like a bunch of batch approvals are coming through from the March to May timeframe right now. One LGS buddy told me they got 11 back in one day early this week and a joe public friend of mine got 7 back yesterday.

Okay, so I am back to finishing up my Remington 700 XCR tactical .308...

I most likely won't be shooting out past 500 yards and the 3 scopes below are what I am looking at any input on these for this set up?

    Viper HST 4-16x44

    Viper HS 4-16x44

    Viper PST Gen II 3-15x44

Everything about the PST g2 is “better.”
Even if you’re not spinning dials.

I'm more than pleased with this Viper HS LR 4-16 x 44. I'm only going out to 600. Wanted to get into a long range (I know 600 may not be long range to some on here) setup on a reasonable budget a few years back.

    :notsure:

Idk. I could ask some of the guys I know at vortex. It’s not anything I pay attention too these days, if it’s not in the razor line up as far as vortex is concerned.

The first Japan made PSTs were better made scopes. Not so feature rich but solid and mechanically well built.

The newer Taiwan ones have had a few more issues but still has better glass and the features to price point + warranty is hard to beat. With vortex don’t think that the price of the warranty isn’t built into the price you pay for the scope.

Also, just keep in mind….any scope will be fine at 500y. Before the RCO we use to qualify at 500m with iron sights in the Marine Corps.
People who would “qualify” are not even that great of shooters over all. However the game is changed when the target becomes 2x2 inches.

While they're all serviceable scopes for your use case, I would recommend at least the HST to get an MRAD reticle. The upgrade to the PST grants you FFP, a more complex reticle, and illumination. They're nice to have but not terribly necessary for non-competition shooting within 500 yards.
