Anyone thinking of upgrading to new 22 tundra?

Sure, when they’re 10-15 years old and have a proven track record and reasonable used prices, perhaps. Would pick up an 05-06 long before but those are getting thin… will likely be forced into a 16-17 for the next truck… and unfortunately, eventually, even those will be hard to find. When they are, sure, a new one will do

 

I will buy one down the road. Probably after the mid-cycle refresh in a few years. I want to wait for all the first year kinks to be worked out and the supply issues to calm down.

 

If I was looking for a full size (sold my full size for a smaller truck) I would def take a look at the Tundra and the Ram as I like how they look

 

I had a rental Rav4 a few weeks ago that had that, it scared me at first because l pressed harder on the brake facing down a slope and it shut off.

My 2021 Silverado has the auto shut off function. Honestly you get used to it and don't even notice it. I don't know how long to expect the starter to live but, I don't expect I will have this one much out of warranty anyway. Chevrolet did a decent job designing this system as it goes unnoticed. I had a jeep as a rental however and that was a complete shit show. It started late and would hold you up a lights. A few times it would act like it was starting then die forcing me to put the thing in park and then push the button to restart. Was a shit show.

I think the reason you cannot turn it off and have it stay off is they are using this function to pass all the EPA regulations and thus it has to be a function of the vehicle to meet that standard.

Finally looked at a new tundra today. Thought it looked quite a bit better in person. I just couldn't get over the dealer markup.

 

I'll be in the market for a new 1/2 ton in about 2 years to replace my 2014 F150. I may end up selling my 07 Tacoma at the time to help finance it, may not. I'll just have to wait and see. The Tundra will be the 1st thing I look at when I'm ready. This gives me a couple of years to see how this gen Tundra works out. And hopefully for the market to normalize. I won't pay $15K over sticker though. I'll just keep driving what I have and rebuild it before I do that.

 

That is criminal. But I can't blame them if they find an idiot to pay that. Capitalism baby!

 

I'm curious as to the commonality between this and the Land Cruiser considering they are both TNGA with ,I'm assuming, very similar power trains.
