Thanks for the info. Any idea on a lifetime for the bushings at this setting? Have you ever pushed a set to failure?

Looking forward to pictures of the KM3. I’m thinking that’s the route I’ll go once my M55 wear out.

I have not yet but others have. I expect my bushings will fail at some point.

Struggling here. Researching ad nauseum and suffering from analysis paralysis deciding on tires. Planned on a 255/85/16 AT but don't care for the available tires in that size (mostly MTs). Cooper and Mastercraft ok but trying to avoid an E rated 60lbs tire, MT or AT. Really like the Kenda Klever at 33x10.5 17 (unsure on which wheel I'll purchase, 16" or 17") but that's also super heavy (~60lbs).
My question is what are the light weight, non E-rated AT or MT tires in a 255/85 r16, 33x10.5 R17 or maybe a 255/80 R17 size? Only one I've found thus far is a Dick Cepek EC.

Apparently I was doing skinnies on Tacos before skinnies were cool. Pic of my last Tacoma from a posting I dredged up 10+ years ago:

Might be what I end up doing next round, if I don't go up. Really hated I couldn't get the AT's in a 16 so i went MT

I couldn't be happier with the overall performance of my 255 Falkens, I've never had a tire that has lasted 60000km and still perform as expected and not wear poorly. I've rotated them a grand total of 2 times.

From my understanding, the Toyo Open Country's are going to come in at the lightest for an MT at 52lbs. I weighed my tires, Yokohama Geolandars, and they come in at a close second at about 53 pounds. These are both for 255/85r16. Everything else I've seen pushes up to 56-58-60+lbs. The Geolandars come in taller than most of the MT's as well but, from reviews, have the best all-around performance. That's why I chose them and paired them up with some 16lb 16" wheels. Total weight for the entire setup is about 70.8lbs according to my scale. Compared to my stock TRD SEMA 17" wheels with Nitto AT's in 265/70r17 weighing 67.6lbs, I've gained about 3 lbs total.

This is about as close as you can get to a lightweight wheel and tire setup, IMO. Especially for this size.

My results in driving feel are that the truck still feels a bit more sluggish. You would think that 3 lbs would have no effect, but wheel weight has less of an effect than the tire apparently due to rotational inertia. So, long story short, don't worry about weight because it's going to slow it down no matter what. Obviously stay away from the heavier tires if you can- But if you're sacrificing tire capabilities and performance trying to save weight, you'll just be unhappy with the performance as a whole.

You'll eventually want a tune at minimum and if you add weight (bumpers etc) you'll want to regear to 4.88 or 5.29.

EDIT: Redacted bad info-- The toyo was for 17's and for a different compound. Apologies.

I loved the at's in 265/75, I got nearly 50k miles out of them and they definitely had some life left when I replaced em. I do love the look of the MT's though, and the compound is much harder than my p rated old set so I'm trying for 50/60 out of this set haha

Where did you see the Toyo's at 52 lbs, Toyo lists them at 61 lbs in 255/85/16. That's the only thing holding me back from getting these.

Agreed, the Toyo's are not 52lbs! They're a heavy off road tires with durable sidewalls. I've had 2 sets of them, hand siped one set, the centre tread only, made them much safer in the winter up here in Canadaland.

At the bicycle shop! Suspect a typo somewhere, 26 is reasonable.

Got 255/80r17 Toyo atIII’s on yesterday, really would have liked a c load but these are the lightest e load I found. So far I like them and haven’t noticed any difference in power from the 265/70 k02’s I was running. AC1E3E8D-2DCA-4BEA-ADE2-A4750E3141DF.jpg

I’ve been reading this thread for a while and still have a question that I think I know the answer to, but I want to make sure -

With the offset a 2022 stock TRD Sport rim, it’s the width that is the problem as you go towards a larger tire. I know the issues with the mud flaps and the plastic within the wheel wells. If you were to level the truck, would a 33x10.5 KO2 work - clear the UCA - with the “trimming” of the plastic?

Ultimately I am looking for a larger tire and would like to ensure that the Leer topper I’ve ordered and the eventual addition of a RTT can be dealt with by a leaf pack or sumo spring, etc.
