Ditto. 3/3 Nissans owned by my immediate family (one by myself) in the last 10 years all had interiors that were quickly overcome by the unspeakable pain of being a Nissan and committed plastic-suicide within 2 years. Cupholders, consoles, glovebox, etc. Not to mention immediate electrical gremlins that only changed their form after any attempt to fix them and randomly stranded all of us from time to time. These were all Altimas and Maximas too; I can't imagine taking a Nissan product off-road. I truly hope Nissan has or will get their act together with the Frontier though. I'd love Toyota to feel some solid competition for the Tacoma.

 

You can get a Tacoma in less than 6 weeks. I went to my local dealer, saw what they had coming in on allocation, and brought home my DCSB or 4x4 2 weeks later at msrp.

 

My 2004 Nissan pathfinder was an awesome family SUV with new kids. Was a 3 year old lease return with 60k miles. We then put lots of mileage on it and owned it for 14 years. Only had one issue. Faulty throttle body at a cost of $1k. Other that that it was was just regular maintenance. It was the last model year that they made them. Was still made in Japan. I heard after that that they went down hill in QDR. happy I waited and got back into a Toyota Truck again in 2020.

 

Last nissan i had was a datsun. It was scary to drive on slick roads, plus the body sheet metal was paper thin, and rusted so bad in 4 years i had to scrap the truck.

 

Yes that’s true! I had 2002 Infiniti QX4 awd that I traded in for that Pathfinder. QX4 was flawless! Never an issue. We loved that thing but needed a third row. Thought well let’s stick to Nissan….. what a let down.

 

A friend of mine had one of the old Hardbody trucks and it wasn't bad but very basic. These newer Renault/Nissan's are a gamble for sure, hope the one your buddy bought manages to last awhile.

 

I LOVED my 2006 Xterra. It was solid, never an issue for over 200k miles. But im sure nissan will bring it back as a mom wagon.

I also really wanted an XD titan before getting the tacoma. What a pile of shit that was. Huge let down. Power sucked and the interior was cheap as hell for a 55k truck.

 

i will never buy a nissan simply because every time i see a dickhead tailgater or lane switcher they are in a POS nissan maxima. that brand attracts the shittiest drivers.

 

I bought my 2010 Frontier Pro-4x with little confidence in how it would hold up. Dealership let me take it for a day long test drive and everything about it felt solid, price was great so I went for it. It's 2022 and I'm still driving it daily, still cleans up like new inside and out and has needed minimal repairs (rear axle seal, exhaust heat shield clamps). Regularly used for towing, hauling and off-roading. Apparently resale is no issue either.. the Pro-4x seems to have a following these days.

2022+ shares a lot with the 2005-2021 platform, a good thing in my books! Like any brand, Nissan has built some stinkers but their trucks are pretty darn stout. I wish they continued selling the Patrol here! The Armada is close, but too fancy for me.

 

Well no, but maybe in some areas

 

I have had 2 Nissans, a Frontier and an Xterra. The Xterra drop valve guides at 89k miles and an axle seal that they wouldn't sell you. Wanted you to replace the axle. The alternator was located at the bottom of the engine and I went through a few. Gas gauge sending unit went out at 60k. The Frontier grenaded the auto tranny at about the same mileage. I won't buy a Nissan again. Not to say that any manufacturer can't have issues, but these were a pain and fixed on my dime.

 

I have nothing but positive things to say about the Nissans I have had. Put a lot of miles on a 2007 Maxima then bought a 2012 Infiniti G37S sedan. Both were very solid cars, fun to drive, with very basic maintenance. Quality was solid on both. I test drove a 2021 Pro4X Titan and was actually pretty impressed with it all around. Motor and transmission were impressive and the interior quality was every bit as nice as it’s competitors.

 

The only Nissan I have owned, was a 2004 Armada, had great power and very roomy, had rotor issues which a recall took care of. the only other issue I had was electrical, with less than 80k miles on it, the ABS lights would come on once in while. Also had an electrical issue where all of a sudden the tranny would not change gears, the cluster would light up like a Christmas tree and I would have to turn the car off then back on to resolve. It towed my boat great, but the electrical issues at such low miles made me get rid of it. The new Frontiers look good, and I hope they last and are trouble free, I just wont be going to another Nissan product, specially since they are affiliated with Renault.

 

Wow, you just reminded me that that I owned a couple Datsuns... Fucking points always needed replacing....

Same here. Every day on the way to the gym I drive past a Toyota dealer on one corner and a Nissan dealer on the other across from it. The Toyota lot is always about 1/2 full with mostly used cars/trucks, the Nissan lot full of mostly new cars and trucks.

 

Ok, the XTerra was pretty fucking rad, too bad they stopped making it.

 

I had a 2002 xterra that I kept for 16 years. It was amazing but costs really started adding up and reliability went down fast in the last 3ish years. Loved it though. Great design
