We just got notice our 2nd gen 5ft caps will be here the last week of Feb. so it should not be too much longer. Totally worth the wait as well. If anyone wants a 2005-2015 5ft Adventure hit us up.

Do you all think a set of the 1165 Frontrunner load bars would be sufficient for carrying a fairly larger/heavy RTT (as well as 2 adults while sleeping in the tent)? Or would a rack be a better way to go?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the impact to gas mileage after you installed your shell?

Have had several toppers and no real change. It's what you load on them that affects it.

Anyone have a lead on load bars from rsi? I know retails are sold out and the factory is supposed to start shipping over the next few months. Looking for private party.

Hey dudes... kinda knew to posting here... hope I'm quoting and tagging right. Anyway @chrisdors , I just ordered a smart cap and its on its way. I also picked up a heavily discounted thule awning at an REI garage sale today (haha without doing any research). I was wondering if you had any issues with mounting... the smart cap looks like its slightly higher than the cab? I haven't purchased a roof rack yet but I was thinking I'm going to need something to match the slight height difference between the smart cap and the cab. Also, have you had any issues with mounting a singular item to both the bed and the cab?

Im pumped for my Smart Cap. If anyone else has any "must-dos" or advice for when It arrives it would be highly appreciated! Thanks guys.

They are not available yet, and the estimate for these continues to move. Hopefully this calendar year. Here's some pictures we have, but it is obviousy a shortbed.

Any issues opening the side access fully with the tent on top as well as the new trax mounts on the side?

The weight limit on the door molle and/or external mounted gear rack is 15 pounds, correct? The gas struts should hold that okay as long as your Maxtrax and internally mounted gear doesn't exceed this limitation.

I might be selling my "A" that sits on my black 2021 DCLB. Anyone interested in buying a year old "A", and what would one say the value / price should be? Only thing I've done is to remove the smartcap labels....It sits in Virginia right now and would prefer, make that won't, be taking it apart and shipping somewhere.

If I had a long bed I’d drive from Florida. What’s your reason for selling? Just curious from a DCSB guy waiting for his EvoA to arrive.

Those are some serious panels for just two maxtrax pins. Is there a reason you didn't just mount the pins directly to the doors with some internal reinforcement?

I absolutely Love, and mean Love, the cap. However, wife isn't so in love with the Taco comfort (seat), and I want to tow a larger payload (I overestimated the tow-ability of the Taco based on plain spec and not real world drag, weight, terrain blah blah blah etc). Therefore I'm going for a Tundra, or a Ram Rebel. And yes if possible I'll be putting another RSI cap on it - did I forget to say I love that thing?

My wife wanted a bigger trailer pulling capability too. I told her to trade her BMW 428X. No deal, so we have to live with the Taco until it dies of natural causes. I'm never getting rid of my 2013 DCSB TRD Sport and it's many mods! Worked too hard to get her the way I wanted her (the truck, not my wife who doesn't need ANY mods to be perfect). Glad to hear you're an RSI fan. I've been wanting the 2nd Gen to come out since they were released for Tacomas and Tundras. Now they have an upcoming release of the bed replacement that is all my Zombie Apocalypse fantasies rolled into an Overland Tacoma!! If I was only a professional YouTuber / Overlanding Influencer I could justify the conversion! UGH!
