    It occurred to me that if I really hit the gas I could probably have this rear axle cleaned up and mocked up under the Tacoma today. I'm still in pajamas so I guess the motivation ain't there yet

    If ya buff it and it’s through the clear then you’re just making a hole. If it’s not through then you can buff up the scratch so it’s not visible.

    I’d probably try buffing it a bit by hand and see what it does, but keep in mind that it might need touch up paint.




    Also keep in mind the state of paint on my truck :laughing: I may not be the best source of advice here.

    I'm not the best person to ask about paint care :laughing:

    I've used Meguiar's on the Tacoma to clean up haze in the clear coat though

    I think what you want is polishing compound. There is a few different versions that are like different grits of sand paper. Been a long time since I looked though.
