I have read some articles stating that in similar size and staffed dealerships the mechanics are significantly more productive in shops with heated floors.

My old place was built in the 40s so no heated floor ever...:pout:

I would be more productive on those hot days if we had A/C in the shop.

Hope you fellas are enjoying the weekend!
Wife did two coats of Verathane Kona last night before bed. Here's a one coat vs two comparison.

If we ever did this again I think we'd try distressing the wood with a torch to give it some character.

I actually have an air conditioner for the garage, self contained 2 ton unit like a mobile home uses.
Auction buy for $70, works perfectly.
Had it for about 5 years now, still up on the rack...:anonymous:

I want to add gas to the garage anyway, so maybe I'll go the tankless water heater route. :notsure:

How well (and efficient) these systems work depends on design and install.

Even if you aren't going to do it yourself do all the homework so you can choose a top spec contractor vs some dude with more confidence than experience.

I insulated the slab prior to pouring. Thought about this long before anything was built. Dislike doin’ things twice let alone the cost.

Boilers aren't much bigger and that's what they are made for.

My boiler is in the corner and takes up about the same space as a welder.

I tried the on demand water heater. The flow of the water is so slow, it is difficult to find a flow switch that will turn in the water heater.

I got away from the on demand system after 1 winter.

    Want to know what's ironic?

I have a lift, but would rather do oil changes on the floor. The floor is so cozy warm, it makes the oil changes so much more enjoyable.

:anonymous: Not gonna lie but I’ve fallen asleep under there oil changin’ & watchin’ the hockey game. Started drainin’ when the puck dropped & finally finished up in the third. At least I didn’t go into overtime.

Not a whole lotta snow on the ground, but it's been so cold here it won't really melt. What does turns into a solid sheet of ice. The mounds at the new place are solid ice...

So.. for the record.. an on demand water heater is not designed for radiant floor heat.

They actually make micro boilers now that are very similar in size but are rated (designed for actually) radiant heat floors.

Depending on the size of your floor and how many zones you want the plumbing, pump, expansion tank, valves and the micro boiler can be mounted on a sheet of plywood say 2x4 feet and take up very little room.

The micro boilers can be had in gas or electric and it's going to take electricity to run the pump too so for me, it makes sense to run an electric micro boiler.

Is that the new place? Congratulations either way. Nice to be in your own home, building equity etc.
