Some of the people in the regional forums are cool. Pretty much my whole former wheeling group was from MUD, but they were also anti TLCA and made a mockery of all things mud. I went wheeling with Woody a few times, douchebag.

It gets to be a bit much when the holier than thou starts. There are some techs or shop owners from the areas where ownership is concentrated looking to snag new customers. So often problems are painted as being harder than they actually are. The conversations end with -- if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, contact me for an appointment.

We would just flame them out of the windy city forum and they would go away LOL!! Or we would have them PM Gumby and piss him off.

I've made some good friends from there and a couple from one of the FB groups. They guys have come here and we all had a lot of fun in the Ozarks last fall.

I mean, I got my LC expecting to have to fix shit on my own.

I would expect the same from other LC owners....newest 80 series alone is already over 25 years old.

I got a Tacoma cause I figured it's an old truck I can learn to fix (had zero fucking money to pay others), I learned to work on it and that grew the hobby for me. Now I work on all sorts of shit. Being poor just made it imperitive to learn.

My wrenching started with F-bodies. Amazing how much shit can be interchanged which made wrenching fun.

The AHC issue discussions are sometimes where I check out. If somebody has problems with the system, and they don't feel inclined to dump $1,500 into an old system that will have more problems as time goes by, then do your best to help them transition to something worthwhile. They come asking for advice on how to deal with a 20+ year old suspension that in most cases was severely neglected by the previous owner. It gets into this Karen thing of oh oh oh how dare you even think removing a work of art?

When I could tell it was going to require $1,200 to $1,500 to fix it, I was like fuuuuck it and I'm getting rid of it.

My first was an old Buick nailhead. I must have been something like 14 years old. My dad didn't want anything to do with it. I had to come up with some workarounds.

Yeah the prices are what are rough right now. I saw a solid looking 97 Jeremiah at Proffitts has for sale on his site but its hard to swallow $30K even on a super clean one.
One reason I set my (admittedly deep seeded and possibly irrational) Jeep bias aside and actually started looking at 'em is because of what I could order new versus what I could get used if I stuck with Toy/Lexus. I never even thought I'd ever consider it but its on the list now.

One way to look at it is I doubt that you will be putting a lot of miles on it and will keep it spotless.

You won't have any problems with it and if you decide to do something different will be able to move without being out too much money.

This is a new 2021 heritage edition that has been built using Dobinsons suspension. You can tell by looking at the motor it has very few miles on it.
