Fogs on while brights on

Relatively straight forward, I'm looking for any way to bypass the fogs cutting off while using brights.

Why - so you can really blind oncoming drivers?

High beams shouldn't be on with oncoming traffic. If they are, having the fog lights won't be what's blinding.

I wish there was an easy mod for this. So many times I’ve wished to have all my lights on while off-roading and finding camping spots. I don’t ever use my high beams while driving on the road…ever really.

 

I have the brite box on my truck. Super quick and easy install. I’ve been very pleased thus far for about a year now

 

Brights on and fogs is nice off road. But that’s where a light bar or pods come in to play. Leave the stock fogs alone and add aftermarket on a separate switch. So much easier that way too.

 

If your brights are on you are already "blinding other drivers".



@OP, I guess as long as you can turn the fogs on by themselves without the brights then do what you want, but you should probably just consider a light bar instead.

 

I’ll have to take a look around my truck as when I cut the highs on the lows and fogs stay on. I only know this because I have leds in my lows, diode dynamic ambers in my fogs and can see the highs come on. I will double check and make sure I’m not drunk in thinking that. I did buy my truck used and it had mods done at the time of purchase.

 

If using actual fogs, the two are opposed in function. Brights are intended for distance projection, adding more light up close will cause your pupils to constrict and reduce your ability to see to the full extent of the brights light output. On the other hand, brights are aimed high and create significant glare in the conditions that fog lights are needed in, and this glare effectively reduces your ability to use the light produced by the fogs. Fogs are designed for lighting up close to the vehicle and mounted low to reduce glare (the closer a light source is to your eye, the more you will see the light reflected back, try using a headlamp in the rain. Then hold it down by your waist).

If you want more light, get pods that are designed for what you want. Specifically, if you want more light in conditions that brights are appropriate for, add something like Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro (or Max) SAE Aux driving light pods to your grill and wire them on a relay that is triggered by the brights coming on. If you want brighter fogs, get yellow Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro (or Max) SAE fogs.

If you just want more light for off road, get a light set up that is designed for what you need and leave the road legal lights alone.

Also, dim your dash lights as low as possible. This will help dilate your pupils and allow you to use the light you have more efficiently.

Sorry, but at this point in my life I find that even low beams + fogs are often too much on an oncoming vehicle.
And yes, I do know the tricks to avoid the effects of too much light coming at me.

 

EXACTLY... I love all the shopping mall tacos who raced to judgment about why anyone would want to do this. Silly monkeys assume you want to just be an ahole and blind oncoming traffic... that my friends, is why you never ass ume..

 

You can bypass the fog lights turning off with use of a relay, but you will have to splice 2 wires. Not a big deal if you know what you're doing.

I did on my truck and it's been working fine for 4 years now.

Also, in many states it's not legal to have the brights and fogs on at the same time, which is why our trucks are set up the way they are. Do at your own (and on coming drivers) risk. If your state regulates it, don't expect to get a sticker.

 

Posting comments like: “Why? So you can blind oncoming drivers?” is ignorant, unhelpful and a waste of space on here for those of us who are smart enough to know why he’s asking a relevant, insightful question that anyone on Tacoma World who actually takes their trucks off-roading like they were built to do would love to know the answer to.

People asking the question of, "How to Activate Fog Lights With High Beams On?" aren’t dumb enough to use bright lights when other cars are around, especially oncoming traffic.. That is why there are multiple product development companies that make electronics to enable this handy feature to maximize our truck's potential.

He’s asking the question to see further ahead and in front of the truck and to the side all at the same time for safety either driving in the middle of nowhere with no one around or on backroads / country roads where hitting a deer crossing through cornfields is common or maybe he’s off-roading and doesn’t want to hit objects or maybe he’s searching for a perfect campsite after dusk..

Have you ever tried to use bright lights AND fog lights at the same time in FOG. You can't see shit. I've been in seriously heavy fog in the past and could see better with my lights off and just using the light from the parking lights + fog lights.

But I understand what the OP is trying to do. There are better options. The factory fog lights are designed to help you see in fog. If you want additional light along with your bright lights adding additional driving lights is a better plan.
