The elementary school where I grew up had a small parking lot for about 8 cars across the street and a vacant field that went to the next block. The only traffic was 200 K-4 kids walking to school.

Now the entire field is paved, twice a day there is huge congestion from the seemingly hundreds of cars dropping off/picking up kids...

I like oil burners as well. If you have a good understanding of the burner (Beckett that is) and a few common spare parts you can usually fix any no heat issue. Parts are fairly cheap and easily available.

You do need a good service man to set the combustion correctly, my guy is solidly into his 70's, been at it for over 50 years.

Oil is the most BTU / unit of fuel available. Unfortunately it fluctuate quite a bit, just behind propane.

A person really has to do long term math to find out what fuel source will be most economical for a heat source.

There are so many veribles required, it make paying a pro to canculate the requirements for your structure worth it.

Now that I'm freshly retired, with 2 knee replacements and just into my 50's, I really like having a warm shop to work on my hobbies.

The money for a lift and the money for a lift table is a non issue now that I don't have the stamina that I had in my 30,s.

I never passed up an hour of overtime and now I get to enjoy things like a person should be able to.

The items listed above may sound like "wants", but they really are " "must needs", when we start to dial things back a notch.

I'm lucky as shit, and I know it!

The first day of kindergarten, Mom walked with me to school to make sure I knew which door, etc... after that, I was on my own. Walked to and from school every day of my life, except for the times we were too far away... then I rode my bike! As far as being abducted, I doubt it crossed her mind, but if it had, her thought would have been, "Who in their right mind would kidnap HIM???".

Same deal, Mom walked the first day and I was on my own.

    Morning crew.
My mom walked with me and showed me the door I would go in the day before my first day of school. On the Morning of she walked with me but as soon as we got to where we could see the school a few blocks away, I told her got it from here. I remember that day pretty well. 1972 or 1973.
Fast forward to my Freshman year of higher school; I moved to Phoenix AZ about 10 days before school started. Got a ride to school with my cousin and his friend ( both Seniors). So at lunch time I go to walk home for lunch....thought I was walking down 19th Avenue but was walking down Thunderbird.
I didn't eat lunch that day and was a few minutes late to class:anonymous:

Depending on what year and what school you might have been classmates with my FIL. Pretty sure he went to Thunderbird and graduated in '80.

    G'morning Shane & Co :hattip:

Mom drove me to school for pre-k since it was a half-day deal, K-3rd I rode the bus and from 4th on I walked/rode my bike until I got my license. After that I was tasked with picking up/dropping off my 3 younger siblings in exchange for use of my parent's spare vehicle.

I was class of '86 but very possible he graduated with my 2 oldest cousins, or may have known them.
Haha, ask him if he remembers Mr. Cruise, science teacher, Mr. Harkleroad auto shop, Mr. Kissel wood shop, I'd have to break out yearbook to think of more. Oh, except for my senior year algebra teacher...but that was her first year teaching straight out of college. Ms. Ponzini :D

I'll ask him to see if any of those names ring a bell. My wife's uncle graduated in '83 so it's possible he went to school with them.
