    Chapter 7
    The Birth of Hobbsquatch

    Looking back, we quickly realize what a pillar Hobbs was; not only in the community, but globally as well.
    'No' was not in his vocabulary....hell, I'm certain he's never uttered the word. Here's one of many examples....

    One balmy summer's day, around '74 I believe it was, ol Hobbs was petering to the jobsite in his freshly purchased '71 Buick; driving slowly on the shoulder, as was his nature. While mentally preparing for another day at the (restaurant, law office, golf course, deli, laundry mat, meat shop, metal company, funeral home, school......whatever) office, he came across a sight that was sure to scar his brain forevermore. There, wondering aimlessly about the road ditch, was an enormous, hairy creature. The creature seemed to be in dismay; tears streaming down his furry cheeks, and all the while grunting what sounded like a new type of foreign obscenity.
    Well, Hobbs being Hobbs, he decided he needed to assist, pronto! So he wheeled that purple Plymouth Duster up alongside the squatchlike creature and inquired as to what the problem might be.
    Let me tell ya; when that flea covered, disgusting smelling, 7 foot tall ball of hair made eye contact with ol' Hobbers.....well, Hobbs knew he'd found himself a friend.
    Captain Hobbs got out of the AMC Pacer, loaded the smelly thing up in the front seat and proceeded to take that bacteria ridden monstrocity to the free clinic up there in the Big Pine suburbs.
    That squatcher creature spent a week inside that clinic getting creams, ointments and various important vitamins and minerals and such. Long about Saturday the creature was given a clean bill of health and released to the custody of ol Hobber.
    Bout a week later Hobbs had him cuttin meat at the Hobbs Meat Shop on the corner of 1st and 2nd streets. Paid that thing $23 an hour he did!!
    That, my engrossed readers, is how the Hobbsquatch came to be.

    I’ve been chatting with Hobbs mom, she’s still tore up as we all are.

    She’s playing golf this morning then riding side by sides in the dunes later. She sends her love.

    I ask about the will. She just text it to me, she’s mailing me the original so I’ll have it when we all meet in court.
