Don't turn the heat fan on high. Halfway at most. And even in the garage the gasses can creap inside a house.

Never had a block heater on any of my 1-2-3 Generation Tacomas. Using synthetic oil seems to work the best for Winter starting, it is usually the batteries that are affected by the extreme cold not the engines.

I have seen that as well. That is for the OEM heater although I would assume they are similar to the aftermarket. Seems they can back out and potentially start nearby wiring harness on fire.
Trick it to ensure the heater is fully inserted and clipped on. I personally have had zero issues with mine backing out. I do check regularly especially in the winter.

Only time we used a block heater was on snowmobile trips to quebec where it got lower than -30. Couldn't fire up the duramax without it.

This thread is literally a male running his truck to warm up. It's not just women who can't imagine spending a minute in a cold cabin.

Men mostly just try to justify that they're warming the engine up and that it's not for them. :p

Agreed. On a recent trip I was with some T4R owners and they were all talking about never buying a vehicle without heated seats in the future. I guess we are all a bunch of 10 ply's.

On that note I think heated seats and steering wheels make sense on an electric vehicle. Takes a lot of energy to heat the entire cabin, better to heat the contact points IMO.

Seems pretty normal. Mine I never let sit and warm up. I just go out an start it scrap the frost if there is any get in Buckel up and drive off easy the first few miles. By the time in half way in to my 9mile commute to work it's warming up nicely.
Then it was in the teens and single digits this week in the morning and yeah I did sound a little rough and took a little longer.

Driving this is nothing like the little diesel I had previously. In the weather we been having I'd have to have my winter front on it so it didn't cool at stop lights and plug the block heater in to a timer to run two hours before my departure time to avoid a hard or no start.
The Tacoma is way less trouble.
I don't even have heated seats and so far don't mind with the cloth seats. With leather like I had before it would be needed. Leather seats are chilly AF in winter.

My heated seat will last forever. I don't use it. My passenger seat will burn up at some point though... my wife will use that in the summer :annoyed:
