Buddy, you said it wasn’t physically possible. And you were wrong. End of story. It happens, all I’m saying is be humble about it. Maybe, I don’t know, verify before making technical statements. I get you’re upset with yourself, don’t take it out on TW. We’re all just here to get accurate information to work on our trucks.

No other sentence in your statement absolves you of the error. Save your response, you’ve joined my block list, since I prefer people who know what they’re talking about.

Idk why you’re even debating the temp of the fluid.

Just flush the whole transmission. It’s clearly documented to be better duh…

Or just look at getting a horse and buggy. But even then that *might need some temperature regulation.

It doesn’t matter whether you do a drain and fill or a full flush, have to check level once fluid is replaced, and do it in the temp range the level point was built to.

It's not that hard to do. I have an OBDII splitter under my dash because I wanted to have my UltraGauge plugged in at all times while still having access to the OBDII port. That means I can jump the pins while looking at the trans and torque converter temps on the UG at the same time.

Looks like a lot going on in this thread. To dumb it down a bit:

My 2nd gen manual recommends "Genuine Toyota ATF WS"

1st page of this thread (2008) says there is no alternative fluid that meets the specification. Is there a cheaper fluid that meets this spec 14 years later? TIA

Oops. Confusing this with the diff thread

There are many compatible non-Toyota fluids.

    None... yet.
Second that! I did a lot of reading before attempting and it got great reviews. I've done three drain and fills with Valvoline and zero issues...

I just got done changing/flushing all my ATF and so just for reference here is my UG readout along with pins 4 and 13 jumped and the "A/T OIL TEMP" active at the same time. The temps shown on the UG were the approximate temps I checked the fluid level at (dash light was solid at these temps).

If I'm reading correctly: 80*F ambient, Torque Converter temp reading of 118*F? What is the Xmn temp?

Intake air temp sensor is reading 80.6°F (typically slightly higher than ambient, especially when idling), torque converter is at 118.4°F, and transmission is at 113.0°F (Xmn is just my shorthand for transmission).
