Is that directly on top of a RTT rack? I ordered the @TOTAL CHAOS ones earlier this afternoon.

 

Yes. The install instructions call for the ACS forged rack to be on the bottom and the bed stiffener to sit on top if you are using both, since they both share the same factory bolt hole. Note: you lose the factory tie down but the Leitner bed stiffeners have a tie down that is stronger.

 

The TC stiffener has another option for the tie down.

 

You cannot go wrong with the TCs, those are quality products that have stood the test of time. If I had known you already made your purchasing decision I wouldn't have chimed in; I included my setup to give you another option / consideration. I think you'll be happy with the TCs and if you aren't they will sell in no time here on TW.

 

Always chime in. It’s great to always see the options that are out there….how we all learn. I’ve got the Leer on order and until this morning, the composite nature of the bed hadn’t crossed my mind. Now I know. Appreciate you and everyone else here.

 

I use this feature a lot. Granted, the D-rings are there stock, but at least putting the bed stiffeners in doesn't take away the tie down option.

 

OK. Who makes a hard shell RTT that opens by means of electric actuators? TIA

 

OK. I'm going to start shopping for a new RTT to replace the one my neighbor dropped a tree on.

What I'd really like is a hard shell that opens with electric actuators so I can just flip a switch to put it up and then flip a switch to take it down.

Who makes one?

Those are heavy AF, it may just crush your vehicle all together. Had one on an FJ80…was amazingly nuts!

 

Don't know if this is *strictly* the right place to ask this, but here goes:

I have a Leer 100 Shell with Thule Roof Racks. Looking to get a roof rack above the cab of my truck that will be at the same height so I can do a RTT longer than my 5' bed. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find a cab rack how that will match the heights of the roof rails?

 

When you have a tent that spans from the bed to the cab, you don’t connect it to both. The cab and bed flex independently of one another so you want a gap between the tent and cab rack. So if you wanted a longer tent you could run it as-is, assuming your cap rack is up to the task.

 

Beginning the long wait for my new OVS black mamba 3. I've loved my awning so much I figured they're probably just as good. They told me potentially 2 to 3 months but the introductory price and a coupon was so damn good I figure it's worth the wait.

 

How about this: What about installing a front rack the same height as the topper rack, set the tent on both, but don't actually attach the tent to the cab rack? Just attach the tent to the topper rack and let the front rack help support the weight.

 

Just won't work, needs some clearance for the left and right twisting it'll do
