Oil Leak from the oil filter housing? Pics inside!

    I got it, my neighbor had a pick tool with a wooden handle, which gave me some leverage.

    Stuff some rags in the ports,,if you haven't already. Don't forget about them.

    Seems as though you are committed.

    Scrape, clean ,new gasket ring.

    It was a good idea to warm up the engine a little guys! The bolts where pretty tight so when they finally let loose I'm sure the heat helped just enough. The rubber gaskets were toast I just used a sharp razor blade to scrape them off as the were cooked on. Thanks again for the write up.

    Brake fluid will soften rubber. Soak it for awhile. A few hours.

    I'll try that on my up coming oil pump gasket seal job here shortly! So far this last repair has stopped the messy slick on that side of the motor. Now comes the fun part working with repairing the oil leak behind the pulley on the front of the engine. The last owner of my truck was a little old lady she barely did any maintenance on the truck over the 10 years it was in her hands. Any other engine would have quit with the abuse she gave it.
