I have had my tacoma since Feb 07. About 2 months after I bought it I got smoked by some lady who ran a stop sign ("T-Boned"). I had the truck fixed and about 1 month after fixing it, I had to get a cab mount replaced. Now, everytime i hit a bump or turn right it makes a weird clunking noise.....anyone have any idea what that is? someone said it sounded like ball joints...

sounds like to me that they need to take a look at the cab mounts again, another one may need to be replaced. and if i were you, id make them fix it, as the ladys insurance company is still liable(im pretty sure anyway!!). hope ya get it fixed!

i dont want to jump the gun here but i may or may not have a similar issue. Every once in a while it sounds like i ran over something that flew up and hit my undercarriage (i love that word after watching the Dukes of Hazard movie), but when i look in the mirror to see what i hit nothing is there. Its onlyl happend a few times and not when i'm turning. I may be paranoid or actually hitting sticks or something. Unfortunately the few times its happened im listening to music so i dont get a real good clear sound from it.

Hey ND, that happened to me last week. Only 1 time. Thought I was going nuts when I saw nothing in the rear view mirror. I just shrugged it off. Now you've got me freaking out!

OK, now y'all got me nervous. Turned off the music and rolled up the window to just listen. No ticking. No assaults on the undercarriage. But, I can hear the clutch disengage, and shifting into 2nd and 3rd, I can hear the gears catch, and the clutch re-engage. I can hear the gears engage when shifting into first at a dead stop. Is something wrong, or is this typical? 6 spd manual BTW. And be aware, my hearings not so good as it once was.

switch out your clutch fluid to synthetic, it will probably make for smoother shifts and such......probably better clutch pedal feel also!

FYI - I don't hear that on my 5 speed. The only noise I have is from the A/C compressor kicking in at idle.

Mine purrs ALLDAY long 7 Days a week. The stock tires really pick up small stones and take them along with them till they get up to 50 Mph then launch. I think its stones hitting the plastic inner fender
