totally on point - the EV approach is a great solution for the urban areas, but there are a number of us that live outside that area. it's one of my frustrations is that it's not a one answer solution, but should be applied where it is most viable. Eventually one day we may get to a point where solid-state batteries are a dime a dozen, maybe we get to put mini nukes in our cars, but it's a combination solution for now. I mean we're still improving the ICE.

But yeah - prices are getting better for sure. I don't know that the leaf would get the tax credit anymore, but the CX will and the VW should; but the leaf hit the limit a while ago and I'm not sure on the Kona or Mini (maybe the Kona is still good?)

Yes the Leaf still gets the tax credits. Toyota is selling so many Hybrid EV's though that their allotted credits will run out by April so they are hoping for another federal credit to be passed.

ah cool! I didn't know the leaf still qualified - I thought it had hit the limit being one of the first "mainstream" EVs. I assume there's a site where you can see what still qualifies?

FWIW I'm quite enjoying my Rav4 Prime. Enough EV range that all my in town runs are electric, AND I can manage a road trip no problems too.

Proper tires on the Rivian from the factory... good test. The ground clearance on the Rivian is incredible.

With better energy storage and charging an electric vehicle will be better at pretty much everything compared to what we drive now.

yeah that works but the whole “path forward” makes it feel like were a bunch of cavemen and we know better than you cavemen running ur engines. I dont think its a pthforward just a different system to get u from point a to point b

I just read the California now wants to get rid of solar due to the pricing structure. Wonder how the tree huggers will charge then. If they are so concerned about emissions maybe they should look at the mining and manufacture of the batteries. And don't forget the waste stream when the batteries die. Or the children mining cobalt in the Congo for the batteries.
