Have them use a Toyota Certified Collision shop, not their internal shop.

Ive watched what they do in the back while waiting for an oil change, they have young dudes whipping the customers cars around in and out of the workshop. Im surprised it doesnt happen more often with the way they drive

Oh it does happen all the time. I worked for VW for 6 years, every week we had 1-2 cars crash.

I would be asking for a new 2022 of equal or greater value than your current truck. I doubt if I would get one but I would be asking.

I would not expect anyone other than a new car dealership to fulfill this request. They can get new trucks.

    It's only a flesh wound!

I'd let 'em repair it and not give it another thought. That's pretty minor damage.

I thought about this but reconsidered because they've offered to buy my truck multiple times in the past year. I always say I'm interested but they can never get me a DCLB

Yeah, we would love to offer you more, but your truck has that nasty dent in the side. :)

Clickbait title is disappointing. This was not crashed. It was backed into, scraped, bumped.... not crashed.

Hypothetical question that's never true. Two exact used trucks with the same options, same condition on wear items (like tires), same mileage, same maintenance history, same level of rust, same price...

Make sure it does not hit CARFAX. One of our 4Runners, had a 9" scratch on the left rear quarter, they painted the whole quarter and clear coated. Insurance picked it up. Toyota body shop. A month later, trading this '18 4R, CarFax showed, "damage". Pile of crap.
Insurance did not turn it in and the body shop mgr said they didn't. Someone did.
I believe that CarFax has bird dogs out in insurance and body shop office arrangements. Probably pay whatever they can for info.
CarFax will surely lower your value.

Ugh. Sorry. Been there, unfortunately. I agree with a previous post to do a little research on the body shop they are suggesting. In my experience, the body shop had a very good relationship with the dealer (for good reason) and really wanted to make it right for me. I was given a loaner and didn't have to pay for my service that day. Unlike you, I discovered the damage myself when I picked up my 4Runner. It was only paint and minor bumper damage, but nobody planned on telling me. I still had to prove it with pictures they took prior to service. I did get a loaner car. And, the body shop told me that the damage would not show up on Carfax because they were doing work for the dealer. So, no diminished value. Makes me wonder how many cars on the lot have been repaired, as others above have suggested. I'm sorry for you. This isn't a good deal. I'd be patient and polite and work with the body shop. I hope you are happy with the repair. Good luck!

You can turn it in on your own insurance and take it to a shop of your choice or let the dealer repair it. Either way, the dealer's insurance will pay for the repairs.

It does look minor, but you could pursue diminished value. I don't think you'd get much out of it for the time and money involved in dealing with that. As others have mentioned, get a loaner vehicle from them on their dime, maybe ask for a few freebees once the repairs are done and make sure you're happy with the repair work before taking possession.

I'd think a Toyota dealer would use genuine parts. You might ask for an estimate and overview it with your insurance company before proceeding.

Really sounds like a mistake and the dealer is trying to help resolve the situation the best they can. If you make it difficult for them they'll be less inclined to work with you. Sorry about the situation.

His insurance likely won't do anything as the dealer was driving the truck. This is why dealers and service stations have their only dealer plate and insurance. Where I live there is a specific exclusion for garage personnel under all auto insurance policies.

They might be able to paintless dent repair that bedside and respray a new fender flare and the lower portion of the bed. You'd probably be happier with the results as opposed to replacing the bedside, trying to line everything, and re painting the whole side again.

Not true, you can turn it in on your own insurance and your insurance will pay/fix and then go recoup from the at fault party. Your rates won't go up as long as your insurance can collect. In this case I'm positive they would collect reimbursement as dealer has already admitted fault.

Dude familiarize yourself with this. Because in the future if in an accident it will help

You can go after insurance companies for diminished value any time an accident will hit a vehicle's carfax as it will lower the value of the vehicle because an accident is on record. So you can go after the persons insurance for lost value on the car now that its VIN has recorded accident. My brother did this and ended up getting a lot of extra $$$. Now the dealership is probably not going to claim this but silver is a very hard color to color match so i'd just make sure they do it correctly.
