I'm torn between getting KO2's or Cooper STT Pro's in the spring for my new set of SCS Ray10's. On one hand, the BFG's are tried and true and seem to be slightly better for a daily driver than the Pro's.. but, if I'm going to be honest, the Coopers just look awesome.

I'm more of a weekend warrior when it comes to offroading. Mainly just some green and blue trails in Central PA here and there, but most of my miles are spent commuting/leisure driving.

On paper the KO2's appear to be the better obvious choice for my needs (better wear, less road noise etc.), but those Coopers just look so good and seem like the better choice for offroading. I've heard they're one of the "tamer" aggressive AT/MT's out there when it comes to road manners.

Does anyone here have experience with both? And input would be appreciated, thanks!

Everyone I’ve talked to says the coopers are the best for off-roading

    Definitely.

If my truck wasn’t my daily and was used as a weekend warrior, definitely coopers. Way better in mud and general off-road.

As much as I love coopers, my truck is the only vehicle so I had to get ATs.

ST Maxx, that's what I have, love them, they've be great in just about everything.

The STT Pro's are mud tires not all terrains, great if you're mostly dirt miles but you will be less happy if you daily your rig.

The original BFG KO's were great the KO2's are utter garbage.

I have the STT Pros on my 4Runner, which is almost exclusively used for wheeling. I love them, they hook up great, and they look great. But they do have a little bit of noise with them
I have the ST Maxxs on my Tundra, which is my DD, occasional weekend warrior, and transport to and from ski resorts (so it sees a good bit of snow). They have everything the STT Pros have but in a much more street friendly version. Great onroad manors, hook up great as well, much more quite, better in the snow/rain.

I had the Pros on the 4Runner a year or so before I put the Maxxs on the Tundra. Didn't go the Pro route because they would've been overkill and I didn't want that mud terrain sound on a daily basis.

FWIW, the 4Runner has 305/70/17 or ~35s and the Tundra has 305/70/18 or ~35s

Stt pro on my daily offroader. I think its the best tire i ever had. Rain, snow, great traction and also they wear well. But, i always do a 5 tire rotation, that makes a difference too. I actually have a set for the taco now as well. I have the bfg ko2s for when i know there wont be any dirt for a while.

Because I ran them for over a year had more punctures than I ever have before they sucked in sand mud on rocks they wouldn't balance they were noisy and heavy they chunked on rocks they were wildin' dangerous in the rain wore fast and uneavenly, hell I could chirp them in 3rd even dry, they had shit for grip all around packed with mud instantly and wouldn't self clean and collected rocks like the weird kid in 8th grade.

    Never again.

    Ha! Crazy.

Ive had 2 sets of KO2s (E and C load) and absolutely none of those issues. Balanced great the first time and silent on highways as well. My buddy had 2 sets and he is a happy camper also.

Ya pretty much the only tire I will run besides duratracs. Went the cooper route and they wear way too fast for me. Hooked up in rain, snow and mud fine, but the ko2s are lighter and I routinely get 80k miles outta a set of e range.

KO2s do seem to wear like steel. I have about 15k on my current set and they still look brand new.

    Yep.

I mean, there is a reason why it’s the most popular AT tire. Probably in the whole world.

Well, i may be less sensetive than other members, but i thought they werw fine on pavement, and in my opinion, quiet. But ive always driven heavy yrucks with similar tires. If i had to pick one tire to always have on the truck, those coopers are it.

However! I dont understand the hating on bfg ko2s. Its a good all around tire, that i also run, and never had one issue that others have posted about.

Maybe it’s because almost every “bro” runs KO2s? Just like every “bro” runs trd pro grille and it got too played out? I don’t know. It’s a very decent all around tire.

    :notsure:

Yeah I dunno, I was kinda pissed at them to be honest, most disappointed I've ever been with a tire on anything.

285/70/17 was the size I ran with stock gears and like I said I could spin through 1st, halfway through second and chirp in 3rd on a dry road they were just terrible to me.

Maybe I just had a bad batch but they were awful all around to me.

Agreed. I have been starting to think we need to require members to post their age and previous vehicles on their profile. I think it would be telling when it comes to some of the band wagon whining.

Try out the Kenda Rts, I constantly brag about them in every terrain.
